Can someone explain this shit to me? Santa Cruz lost hiker

Not possible. Some IBB are from Boulder Creek / Ben Lomond. It's remote but not devoid of landmarks.

Boulder Creek is where the wierd went when it was done with Santa Cruz.

Way too many hikers and bikers to get lost in the area for 10 days.

These granola eating types can surprise you with their lack of survival skills, common sense, and grit. I’ve know a few back when I used to rock climb a lot and it was shocking the poor choices they made in the outdoors. When I read this story that was the complete vibe I got: this guy is just an idealist idiot.

Back off, jack
You know the term "every day carry"?

I take it pretty seriously.

The hiker, who had earlier revealed he used his boot to drink water from a waterfall, said he initially used the ordeal to test his survival skills and only began to fear his predicament after several days in.

“Every day I hoped they would find me before 8 p.m. so I could get a burrito and taco bowl,” he said.

Definately sounds like a wacko.

If you've done this hike before, wouldn't you know the lay of the land? Sure the fire will burn off all the vegetation, but its not going to alter hills and canyons. I think you would know if you had been descending for a long time when you should be ascending and vice versa. Also, I think I'd realize pretty quickly that things aren't lining up with my expectations and I would stop and backtrack. A man alone, with no wife or kids distracting him should have no problems with this, unless he was just completely out to lunch. My guess is he went hiking on shrooms or something and wound up the next day with no clue where he was.

How much time do you have for conspiracies?

So, a kid goes missing, gets picked up by an old tweaker lady that steals shit and probably sells some drug meth or weed. Lady doing tweaker things with kid and then hears about the search and ditches him.
