Fuck, why did I click on this thread? Now I am having my period.
Sorry about your BFF. Sat and watched my wife take her last breath and have done the same with a few dogs. I have one now that I love more than everyone other than 3 people on this earth and this time is getting soon for me to have to say goodbye. They were all tough in their own way, although it sounds callous to compare a dog to your wife but it's true.
Get another friend. Nothing replaces the other but it does refill your heart somewhat and more each day. Everyone needs that.
Shortly after she got put down, I had to head 4 hours from home for work tomorrow. The pup, Tilly stepped up today. She's never barked at the door much before. My wife called, said Door Dash came and Tilly went crazy jumping at the door just like Kenzie used to. Maybe she did learn something from the old girl.
While that little one is being a brat, your big babe is so patient and measured in her response. I can see it.
This is one of those special ones, and I'm sorry to hear you losing her. I bet she was patient with you, too. And dedicated.
You're lucky, though. You got to have one of those special ones. I got a special one right now and I can't imagine the tears when the day comes for her. Those tears will be so much worse than all the other regular ones.
Sorry you lost a good dog. I still tear up when I think of my dogs that didn't last long enough for me. I had a rottie named Jake, he was awesome and Kinz reminded me of him and his best days flashed. I hope you get that with Kinz soon and not just the pain of loss. Be well my imaginary internet friend.
