What's new

buying equipment online?

I do it all the time. Do your homework, you’re fine. If you’re still worried about it have them agree to you putting the money in an escrow account.

Glendive is the middle of nowhere... :lmao:

I'm actually going through there this weekend, but will probably be going through about midnight.
It's more the like the turn off to go to the middle of nowhere. it was usually the point where I either started thinking about work or pointed the truck and turned my brain off for 3 hours.

I've been through there a handful of times...can't say I really remember it though. Guessing we probably fueled up there though.

I have an old college buddy that started a large construction equipment business. Been doing it for 25+ years now. Buys, sells and ships shit from all across the world but he goes to look at it first. Seems to be doing very well at it. He's a qualified appraiser and does that too on the side.

I'd have no worries buying through a company with say 10-15 years of experience. But there's no way I'd risk plopping anything more than 2-3 grand on anything sight un-seen and pray that it ships to me. Especially used equipment. And especially from a private individual seller. It's too easy to lie and doctor up pictures.

At my previous employer, we sold and repaired paving equipment as one of our lines. So we worked with smaller contractors and we'd let them use our yard for drops occasionally, as we had a dock and forklifts. One bought a newer, maybe 4yo bobcat from "skidsteersofhouston.com" or something, it showed up with the freshest thickest glossiest white paint holding together titanic looking rust chunks:laughing:

I texted a pic to my boss, "Uh, do we accept or refuse this? "

Not our problem:laughing:

I looked at one in Denver a few years back. I knew it had been repainted, looked good on the interweb. Low hours for the price.

We were on vacation out there so I stopped. Also got a speeding ticket from some ahole on a bike. Anyways, it came from California, some city had used it for beach cleanup. And the paint job was an Earl Scheib job...everything was painted except glass and chrome on cylinders.

Decided to pass on that one since I really couldn't see how much rust was underneath everything.

Thanks, my money should be in there account by then. Hopefully the loader is real. lol

Wife is freaking out, but that's what wives do. Sales guy sent vids, pics, etc. I know, it can all be cheap faked like Biden getting lost on stage, but website looks legit, Google shows the building and lot. Again, anything can be faked.

Guess we'll see when it shows up...unless we try another IBB drive across Murca at 20-23 MPH

Private party seller or? Glendive isn't real big, if I don't know them I probably know somebody who does

Badlands Truck...I might be a dumb plow jockey, but I'm not stupid. Not wiring money to a private party sight unseen.

Well, if it's a scam, the trucker is in on it as well.

Loader just showed up...steering wheel holder made good time.

Picked it up about 3 local time in Montana. 18 hours roughly according to Google. Possible, but pushing it.

It's all good though...he put his hard hat on to unload it...right along with his steel toed flip-flops. :lmao:

You got something against safety sandals?

well my excavator was suposed to show up yesterday at 5. didn't make it til 4pm today. first thing I noticed was the door glass was busted out. oh crap! dude had a pic of it that way when he got it, so he didnt' do it. then found a few other things that were different from the pics and listing, like 400 extra hrs, missing toolbox lid, seat had burn holes in it from cigarettes. we'll see what they actually do for me. they're gonna get back to me. I forgot to get pics, i took it right into the shop after it was unloaded to check everything out. its still a good deal, has half the hrs of my other one, and it will clean up ok. I tried to get an address to have someone check it out, but it never happened.

Need to do a bit of investigating on the 444.

It doesn't move when the fluid is cold and it is in "Auto". Could be something as simple as low fluid, haven't checked it yet. Haven't done anything other than running it around a bit. It shifts fine beyond that, no slipping at all. Not really sure how the "Auto" function works with transmission...if there's a solenoid or something that senses the load to downshift and that is bad?

Other than that, everything appears to be good.

Wiring payment for a 624 out of Pennsyltucky today. Shipping to be scheduled after the transfer is complete.

We sold a lift to a guy online for 50k, sent pics and videos. He was out of the NE. Had it listed for sale for 58 before it left our lot. His driver came and took it to Texas where it was sold too. Kinda smart but feels slimy not even holding inventory, he didn't pay us or pick up till he had it sold.

Drop the trans pan and clean the screen. Then refill with fresh fluid. My case was doing the same thing.

Yeah, supposedly they did a "full" service...which probably means engine oil change, air filter, fuel filters and maybe the hydro filter?

Probably just need to top off fluid then. On mine the pickup for the trans is surprisingly close to the top of the "full" fluid level. 2-3quarts low and it will not move when cold. I assume when it's warm either the fluid warms and expands to reach the pickup or something?

Nope...something I should have thought of and didn't. Especially since we've had it on our other loaders...brake pedal gets sticky and doesn't release the whole way.

I thought it was weird because when I backed it off the trailer it was cold and ran fine. I also ran it up and down the driveway a few times and it was fine. But I was also hitting the brake and that's when it started.

Just need some penetrating earl and all is better.
