anyone buy used equipment online and have it shipped to you? looking at some stuff I found on machinery trader. they have their own website called boomandbucket.com, looks legit to me. guy seems helpful on the phone and got me a shipping quote after a couple hours.
My buddy is thinks I might get scammed. I'm in Chattanooga and the machinery is in Tucson, az. They have tons of pics, vid of it running and moving around, and they even did an oil analysis on it.

I bought a used Cat 725 for work off of machinery trader from some sort of composting operation in Minnesota. Called them up, talked to them, sent the local cat guy out to inspect, and wired them the money. Then our procurement guys found a truck to get it here.

Bought a Deere 544H out of Wizzconsin a few years back. But I knew someone that knew of the dealer.

Sales guy was upfront about the issues with it and what needed repairs. Didn't have time to go look at it in person.

It was priced fairly low and did need quite a few repairs as they mentioned, but it's still in my fleet and works great.

Signed for a Deere 444H in Montana...BTW, anyone here near Glendive?

I've bought a tractor and my recent telehandler online, site unseen. Kinda got screwed on the telehandler where having someone go put eyes on it probably would have saved me, but still turned out ok in the end.

If it were more than, say, $8-10k for me, I'd pony up the couple hundred bucks to have local mechanic or somebody knowledgeable go spend an hour giving it a quick once over.

We buy equipment from all over the country and it usually goes well.

Most problems occur during transport (damage / lost pieces). Ask for detailed pics once loaded and details about brokered truck.

Got a 648G3 skidder from BC. It showed up missing the engine panels. Flew off somewhere on the ALCAN.
Trucker ended up buying new ones, wasn't happy as he lost $$ hauling it.
He claimed they weren't there when he picked up, but the dealer had taken pics if it getting loaded.

I bought a Ventrac 4500 out of North Dakota. Went through uShip and got a decent deal.

Moron driver didn't tarp it because "the paperwork didn't say it needed to be". Stone took out the windshield, so then he tarped it.

Driver wanted us to sign a release before he left...no way. Broker credited the amount for replacement windshield and labor.

I have no idea what the driver ended up with payment wise as the windshield was something like $100-150 less than the entire fee.

You need to have reference's vouch for you to be able to list equipment on machinery trader.

yeah I figured it wasn't real easy to list on there. its at a construction lot somewhere in Tuscon. I haven't confirmed it could easily be seen. I have a friend in phoenix I was gonna get to check it out but hes busy til the 10th. Might have a deal done up tomorrow on it. we'll see if they take my offer.
they have a video of it running and moving and it all looks good.

I’m still looking to do that PBB circuit thing where we all take turns driving a loader across America. Who was that from the old place that was convinced it would work?

I'll be driving through on Friday morning or Thursday evening, about 90 miles away any other time.

Glendive is the middle of nowhere... :lmao:

I'm actually going through there this weekend, but will probably be going through about midnight.

It's more the like the turn off to go to the middle of nowhere. it was usually the point where I either started thinking about work or pointed the truck and turned my brain off for 3 hours.

Thanks, my money should be in there account by then. Hopefully the loader is real. lol

Wife is freaking out, but that's what wives do. Sales guy sent vids, pics, etc. I know, it can all be cheap faked like Biden getting lost on stage, but website looks legit, Google shows the building and lot. Again, anything can be faked.

Guess we'll see when it shows up...unless we try another IBB drive across Murca at 20-23 MPH?
