so i did a hinge on mine also, one thing to consider, still make provisions to remove the ramps. because that bit me once because i had to haul something that was different , cant remember what it was now but the ramp are removable now.I gotta make new ramps for my trailer. No way will they be slide in storage, doing a hinge for backs sake.
Thanks for the reminder, I'll get measurements now.An den?
This is the style I was talking about earlier in the thread. I'd love to try this method with some thin sheet and flat strap.I’ll add this. These are 5ft long and 1/4” steel. Might give some ideas on shape or design. These are heavy, about 80-90lbs. I usually drag them around and slide them. But they will let a 100k machine drive right up them. I bet the diamond like shape gives them a lot of strength.
I’ve dealt with heavy metal awhile. And it’s crazy how much that bulge, swell, or diamond kinda shape adds for strength. I bet with thinner steel, or even aluminum would keep ramps from bending. Only drawback is they won’t slide into pockets like most little trailers have. Basically a mini version of these would be great for a Jeep or off-road rig. This is the style I was talking about earlier in the thread. I think that is why the customer and I opted against trying it because the belly would be too thick to fit anywhere.I’ve dealt with heavy metal awhile. I'm guessing that it is. Very solid when you bonk it with a hammer. You think its 1/4 wall tubing?
