I kinda forgot to add salt to the brine tank for a couple weeks. The salt level is about 3 inches below the surface. It has never been this low, in fact I never saw the water in the tank till now. I noticed the water is brownish. This normal or did someone take a shit in the brine tank's sunroof?

I have a couple bags to dump in but wanted to be sure it was ok or needed cleaned beforehand.

Softener was installed in November and is working fine.

Dust accumulated over time dump it rinse it should be fine. Maybe add a small amount of chlorine.
measure the water level and refill it to that measurement.

dump rinse tank, rinse salt refill
do 2 back to back regens to regain capacity.

Yes some folks are dinosaurs.
Back when I was in treatment that was still the cheap go to!

Quarry salt has silt (as noted by brown h20 in tank) solar salt is much cleaner (at a price $$$) I forgot the chemical makeup of the alternative...
op
get it done yet?

Definitely dump it and rinse out the tank...I sometimes let mine get a little low, but I've never had anything but perfectly clear water in it.

Dumped, washed, refilled with Solar Salt from Homo Depot.

Thanks for the help.
