Blockbuster Making a Comeback?

I was boycotting BB for years before they closed. I frequented family video until they shut it down though. Front row seat till they shut it down. I’m a movie nerd because I hate commercials and I hate tv shows. Kinda funny to see Redbox put BB out of business then start having issues themselves.

I used to travel in a motor home or a van that had DVD players in them. I’d rent a red box movie in one state and return it like a thousand miles later in another state, hoped truckers did the same.
The last movie I rented from BB was The Piano. This was when the BB caved to the religious Kooks. The inde shops were always my favorites.

The last time I darkened the doorstep of a blockbuster was prior to 2008. I used to buy the old movies on the sale rack for a few bucks. Still do. We have this place here that sells used Blu Rays cheap when Redbox rotates them out. I don’t know how it works but sometimes I get brand new unopened movies for five or six bucks. Only got one so far out of a bunch that has a scratch and wouldn’t play.

I don't remember the last time I hit a Blockbuster. My (now ex) wife jumped on the Netflix bandwagon pretty early and we were getting movies in the mail long before BB closed their doors.

Meanwhile, I've searched the internet/news for anything about them coming back, or a partnership with Sling TV and can't find anything. Wiki says the website came back online March 23, 2023 and that's about it.

Cool story bra

When they were closing up the place (not when they were going under but when they started downsizing) around me that I always went to, they had a TON of laserdiscs (this is pre DVD) and the manager told me to take what I wanted. I told him I would want a LOT! He said he didn't care. He didn't want to have to move them. I probably got 60-70 laserdiscs and I had a nice player at the time with a "state of the art" home theater from someone making $12/hour! :lmao:

I eventually sold them, after DVD became cheap enough to own, to a guy in Abu Dhabi for like $10 each plus a fortune in shipping on EBAY when that was just people selling used stuff and not basically ChinaMart like it is now. He told me later that the .gov confiscated 40 or so of them because of content. lol

Anyways, fucking learn to torrent and this shit won't matter. Haven't had TV service or streaming service in years. Get IPTV if you want TV service.
