Just like the title says, where is the best place to get a used LS to rebuild? I have a project , but I need to pick up an LS to drop in a free 2003 Silverado to start said project. That truck came with a 5.3, but i *think* I'd want to put a 6.0 in it with a cam/spring upgrade. The 5.3 will be rebuilt to 500 HP and dropped into a OBS 89 short bed. Junkyard? Ebay? Used motor place? Is it worth it to go 6.0? What sayeth the Irate?

I buy complete trucks. Looking at all the tahoes and burbs on cl without engines, seems everyone else does too

buy a shit one from a junkyard and pick up a summit long block with the cam/heads you really want and then swap all the accessories off the shit junk one

"Rebuilt to 500hp"? They need head gaskets to run at that power level, you don't even have to stud it for that unless you're going to dump a pile of money in this thing trying to make 500hp N/A. If you're going to boost it (You should) 4.8/5.3/6.0 becomes a wash for 500hp, buy what's cheap. Around here, your best bet is to find a ragged the fuck out Tahoe or Suburban for 1,500-2k and part it out. If you can find a 3/4 ton van you'd get your LS and 4L80E but they're tougher to come by cheap outside of the rust belt.

U-pull it wrecking yards have them with compete wiring harnesses for under $500 around here.
