Is it still a thing? Or since ships and airplanes became safe they have ceased to disappear?

I’ve been on a plane that lost and engine and the generator in the triangle. It has no lights at night and 1 engine.

It was fine

Best theory is large natural gas bubbles. They will stop a plane engine and a big bubble would swallow a boat.

The finger lakes have smaller bubbles from gas coming up.

Triangle is bigger than I thought. Two of the cruises I've been on traversed the lower part of the triangle.

Pfft. Stick that in the "70s Crap That Wasn't Real" thread. It's based on a Bat-Boy-level book some kook wrote.

The Myth Doesn't Hold Up

In 1975, journalist Larry Kusche published the book "The Bermuda Triangle Mystery — Solved." In it, he reexamined as many Bermuda Triangle incidents from 1840 to 1973 as possible, including those in publications by other writers. One such writer was the man who might be considered the father of the legend, Charles Berlitz, who wrote The Bermuda Triangle in 1974. This was the first book to suggest that something strange was going on in the area. Kusche found that most of the writers' stories were just repeated from other publications without any fact-checking, and that Charles Berlitz may have been the worst offender: "If Berlitz were to report that a boat were red," Kusche wrote in a review of Berlitz's follow-up book, "the chance of it being some other color is almost a certainty."

Map 1. Many of the “mysteries” attributed to the Triangle did not occur in or near it, as shown. Virtually all “mysteries” had solutions, or had no proof that they even occured, when diligently researched and honestly reported. The numbers are chapters in the Solved book.

Nearly lost a mast overboard at night just north on Puerto Rico in 1994. the very lower edge of the triangle.

Just a corroded shroud fitting, nothing really nefarious. While trying to sort the mess on deck, nearly had a cruise ship run over us. They had seen the lights on deck, and were headed closer to see what we were doing. Captain, I am on a 45foot yacht, it sure looked like you were going to run us over

The locals will tell you much of it came from the number of ships that ran ashore and sunk near the island because of the way the reefs and shelf are in the area. They explain many ships that were presumed missing in the triangle simply sunk very close to the island and it was assumed they might have done so further away in the triangle. I got to dive a couple of the wrecks and that was pretty cool.

Yeah? How come there is not widespread reports of post Taco Bell consumage after effects?

Are triangles still a thing? Everything I see these days are either circles or squares. And very few 2 sided shapes. What's up with that?

Probably aliens.
The triangle had to go…..
There’s nothing inclusive, no diversity and no equity in a triangle…. Was most likely a product of the patriarchy….. they’re used in graph’s that could possibly show hierarchies and meritocracy!!!!!

There is one in Alaska too.

No clue why stuff gets lost and never found there...

I'll be honest, I've turned down a lot of free weed in my lifetime...
have to admit the same, just doesn't trip my trigger.

and i was in the dentist chair on board the USS Vulcan when she dropped the load and went dead in the water in the triangle. i had one of those reverse condom things in my mouth for over 2 hours, i was just about to get sick when i had him finally pull it off. spring 86 if i remember right.

Spent my whole childhood preparing and training and have never once encountered it.
I've been ****ed no less than 3X by it. Theres a bunch of it around here.

Heres a pic of dad one time. He rolled in and it just started sinking.

We ended up breaking down a bunch of that salt cedar and laying it down for matting so we could walk on it. Then flipping the bike over and over until we got it out.

****s crazy. You can drive on it, once. if you are following someone you CAN NOT follow their tracks. You will immediately sink to the frame. the first rig breaks the surface tension and liquifies it. Its nuts.

Is that dry or wet? Seems like the kind of thing that would happen when rain deposits that **** there and then the water evaporates leaving a lot of void space.
