What's new

B-29 Doc.... yeah baby

I’ve read all his WWII books. They are great. If you want to read one that will make your blood boil, read Flyboys by James Bradley. It shows the atrocities our downed airmen in the Pacific had to deal with.
Not just downed airmen, anyone captured by the Japanese. That's why you didn't surrender to the Japanese.

B-17's are the Chuck Norris of airplanes. They don't fly thru the air, they beat it into submission.

I was at the top of a 150' Rohn 55 radio tower a few years back when one flew by less than a 1/4 mile away. They were doing paid rides from the Roanoke airport to somewhere over the VT campus and back to Roanoke. It was all I could do to hang onto the tower, it shook like an earthquake when the B-17 flew by. I'll remember that day for the rest of my life, it was one of the most awesome things I've ever experienced. Seemed so close I could reach out and touch it.:flipoff2:

You forgot the SOUND:flipoff2:
They used to fly over my pad up the valley for those paid flights.
Beyond awesome.

Just flew in "Doc" 1 of only 2 B29s that are still in flying condition. I won't nerd out with plane info, but here are some pics.
