I prefer the feel of simple linkage shifters personally. But it really depends on what you put it in--sometimes the cable shifters are the only way to fit them where they need to be.
I’m running Jb fab shifters on my Dana 300 because I was tired of reaching over to shift the t-case. And I’m surprised the feel is really good not spongy at all like I expected.
I have both on my Atlas (four speed). I prefer the levers over the cable, but both work fine. Had to go cable on the planetary box as it was standard option and also as it was the only way to place the shifter where it would fit.
