Everytime there is an influx of immigrants of a specific place, the same shit happens: Lie about number by like double--> there are 10K Haitians in the Springfield, Ohio area. Then the lies begin about how they are robbing resources (when the fed has provided extra to help them settle, which leads to the complaint of favoritism.) Then the cannibal or eating cats stuff starts. It was prevalent when the hmong and Viet were settled in Minn, CA, Tx. It was urban legend. I see people here latching to it as though it was real. If pushed, the distance between what they heard and from whom and when... well, I don't blame anyone, but it is bullshit and normal.

When there is 'other' we tend to hate them. we just do. sometimes we are attracted to them for a minute, but then it turns to jealousy and hate... in time, and given that things get a chance to calm down, things go back to normal.

San Jose, Ca has the largest population of Vietnamese outside Vietnam and I have heard all the accounts and all the stuff... There were lots of Vietnamese in Garden Grove Ca (still are) and same stuff... same urban myths same same same.

JD and Laura Loomer got this one is grandpa's head and, well, it is a great story and horrifying and hilarious at the same time. The Haitians came legally, sponsored by the feds and by lots of other organizations after the disasters that befell Haiti (and Haiti being a disaster in the first place) so, they aren't the usual MS13 fear, they are law abiding people who came to the country lawfully.

These types of immigration stories always have the biggest hate from the people closest to the same economic level. It is why you will find the deepest hatred of black people by people who are closest in income level to the poorest black folks. Imagine a black family rising out of poverty while your white family continues to struggle! Best thing to do? Make sure folks stay down below you, so you aren't the absolute bottom.

This debacle won't hurt Trump. In two weeks, people will forget who said what. Plus, DJT once said he could go out on Broadway and shoot someone in the face and he would not even be tried. Like Reagan, he is teflon.... and, look at all the people out trying to make the bullshit true!

There was no photoshop or AI back in the 70's... shoot, they'll make you believe it now... and even if you don't believe it, it gives you cover from the comments... the just right amount of doubt to keep going.

OK, so Vance and Trump talk about issues that are found on youtube. Maybe they exaggerate it, but as inflammatory as that rhetoric is, THEY ARE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS! I don't care if they eat cats or fuck chickens, etc.. THEY SHOULD NOT BE HERE!
Come in the legal way. Trump and Vance ought to bring attention to the billions if not trillions we've spent protecting Israel and Ukraine borders but not a fuck given about our own. You have people that eat cats and dogs and ducks and geese and any other animals in their home countries. To them is no big deal, they like it.
Then they come here and do the same thing. But because we don't eat cats and dogs here, people don't want to believe someone would do that.

I was in Nigeria a couple years ago and never ever saw a single cat or dog. I wonder why.

I could go line by line and point out your lies here but I don’t have the free time so I’ll just hit your first paragraph. The feds say roughly 15,000. They tend to understate these things.

I have personally witnessed friends that immigrated from Southeast Asia eating any animal they could catch.

The cannibalism claim relates to recent stories about cannibalism in Haiti that are almost certainly true.

See and I would bet money that you are expanding on your 'friend' experience and that you have not witnessed it at all.

I asked the 'lead' for the first crew how come? he said, that the other crew was viet cong. A couple of days later, I asked the lead of the other crew why they didn't mix, he said, 'they are viet cong'.

I have a work friend who is a 'boat people' he claims that most vietnamese often fought on both sides and that the vietnamese culture is combative. His 'joke' about this is 'if you put two chinese in a room who are strangers, in an hour, they will be friends and be starting a company, if you put two vietnamese in a room, in an hour they will be fighting.

While those two anecdotes happened, it doesn't make anything true or false. They are just anecdotes. Interesting and it makes me want to look into that more, but no conclusions.

The latest number of legal haitian immigrants is between 12-15K not 20k as originally claimed. The initial approval was 10K, but the fed granted additional permission to some family members etc.

I worked at a junkyard near Sacramento with a Hmong man. I went hunting with him (only once) and ate at their house a few times with his family. We fished a few times. We never discussed the Vietnam war.

I am reading 15k and would bet that they are understating it.
