What's new

Are all PJ trailers shit or just mine?

$8900? is that a typo?

My father in law paid $5200 otd for a 10k 20' in 2019 and I thought that was way too much.

Not at all. That 10k Lamar buggy hauler I was looking at before when I asked about tie downs is a leftover at $6800. The Sure-trac someone mentioned about are going for like 7k here for 10k standard width 18' with rub rails.

I didn’t really like my PJ, but I call complete BS on this.

Thats fine, doesn't mean it didn't happen :homer:

They used the cheapest lightest steel wheels I've ever seen. I was hauling a basically stock samurai and stock 1st gen Toyota on it. So not light, but no where near 10k. (2500+3500?) stopped in shit hole tricities Washington to get food and litteraly for kicked out of a self check out in taco bell because covid :homer: drove across the street and went through a Wendy's drive through. Almost made it, but had to drive over the curb that was like 2-3" tall, definitely not a full curb. I was in 1st gear, slipping the clutch, no speed at all.

Shortly after I went to take a piss and noticed a low tire. Stopped a few times to put air in. Once I got here I brought them to a tire shop and they found the wheels to be leaking, had to put a new wheel on one and slime worked enough to get it back empty.

There is probably pics on here somewhere.

Why would you even consider one at those prices?

I get that it's nice to just pick up a trailer and go, but you can build a very nice trailer for a lot less than that.

If you have time, the amount of spare time I have I can either enjoy myself or work on shit all the time.

I totally get that, but if you can round up a buddy or 2, you could probably knock it out in a weekend and save $5k+. That type of trailer is nothing special.

I personally love my PJ. 2016 B8 trailer. Towed from LA to Phoenix atleast 20 times and it was loaded down. Vehicle, vertical mill, lathe etc all on one big load. My ram 3500 actually was going slow up some hills so I know it was well over 10k lbs. Maybe bring a 2016 it was still when quality was up but no complaints here, although a friend got a B6 flatbed in 2020 and the welds looked way worse than mine but no problems for him that I've heard either.

Shit, here I am doing some research on PJ's cause they make a B5 in 18'. I don't think I've found anyone saying they are good since at least 5-6 years back.
I’ve got a 26 or 28 foot 2018 PJ tilt. We needed it right away and it was what I could find semi local and had 8k axles. Look it over before you buy it and look at the price on it and a similar diamond c or whatever. The removable fenders are shit, the fender support tubes are shit, the wiring sucks, most of the welds suck. Ours is a hydraulically dampened gravity tilt and the cylinder hadn’t been bled. After you look at it think about what you’ll have to do to make it acceptable to you and put a number on that. Then look around at what else you can get and decide if it’s worth it.

That's the shit part, I'm ordering it regardless. Can't go look before I buy cause no one stocks them here.

Ive heard no major complaints about loadtrail and they seem to be competativly priced. Ive abused the shit out of mine for years without maintenance or quality issues

If the diamond c is that close in price I’d order it. I’ve never looked closely at one but I hear good things. If you get the pj assume you’re going to spend a little time and money fixing the wires and some other stuff.

Having said all that, ours hauls scissor lifts, forklifts, and whatever else all the time and has never had a serious problem. Just enough stuff that should be better about it to not like it much.

FWIW I was ready to pull the trigger on the Diamond C and the deck on their buggy hauler is tall enough(4" taller than the car hauler) it won't fit in the garage loaded. The price came in right around the PJ though after building one and talking to a dealer. The dealer I talked to was pretty cool and also deals with PJ. I had asked him about quality of the PJ going down the past few years and he quietly confirmed that they indeed have been getting worst.

So if youre in the market for a used trailer, PJ Especially you don't want a new one you want one that is 3-4 years old. I'm happy with mine I bought back in December 2016, done nothing to it besides new tires last year since the ones that came with it started to de laminate due to age, which is expected with all trailer tires.
