What's new

Anyone else built scale models?

My cousins all built rockets and launched them at the family farm. The oldest cousin was the only one with his own money and he showed up with a huge rocket with a 3-stage main and 3 fins each with their own 2 stage motor pod.

The Estes launcher wouldn't light it so we brought a tractor down and lit it off the alternator. the main and 1 fin lit sending it into a beautiful arc right into the ground.

I launched rockets made with wrapping paper rolls, cardboard fins and aluminum foil nose cones. It was awesome.
These are the rockets I remember flying as a kid

I'm pretty sure the interceptor is still at my dads house somewhere in the basement.

Rockets are wicked fun. My kids love them (me too)
The second vid is a 2 stage my daughter put together, nose cone never popped and all I found was the first stage lol. Oh well.

my daughter found out that you have to let the paint dry before you put the cone on
she shot it and beings now the cone was cemented in, everything shot out the bottom, turning her brand new rocket into a lawn dart that missed the car by about 12"

she has it on the shelf as a trophy, all crumpled up

Was just talking to GF about this, she wants to try the parm corn today. Others we have done are Hidden Valley ranch powder some sour cream mix powder and I forgot all about the powdered cheese mix out of a mac and cheese box.

Seeing these makes me want to take it up again, except I sold my collection about 12-13 yrs ago. And I have too much other stuff going on.
I had 15-20 moving boxes full that I hadn't done much with for the previous decade.
Tons of parts and kits, back to the early 70s.
Kinda makes me sad that I dont have them anymore.
