Had a lot of thieves in my town lately. I know, imagine that.

I'm looking to get a gps car trackers that isn't integrated into the car's wiring. Like one with a battery that just attaches to the vehicle somewhere. Anyone used ones that works and doesn't cost a fortune for a subscription?

To save me from at least one smartass (fat chance) I know there's other options to keep it from starting or whatever but nothing else helps once its gone. My only hope would be to follow the trail of parts falling off in hopes it didn't go too far.

I have looked at a few but tech is not my strong suit. I do like that some dont turn on until the vehicle starts to move. Seems the battery lasts longer.

Thanks

Isn't Apple in a world of shit over some gps tracking dealio about the size of a postage stamp?

I dont know about the problem they're going thru. I did see the WhistlinDixie guy use some to retrieve his crap and it seemed to work. All my shits Android anyway

I don't think they are in a world of shit.
I just bought some air tag last week.

Cheap insurance.

ah, well people were tagging cars to follow them to where they could be stolen.

I bought a cople recently. They were only like $10. Small, you can hide them anywhere.

Expensive part was you need to buy a cell phone plan, get the sim card. I think you can get the cheapest straight talk plan at walmart.
If I understand correctly you can activate it one month when you set it up and then let it expire and only reactivate when needed or within a year.

The monthly expense killed me, full coverage was cheaper than paying the tracker every month. Maybe there are better trackers now.

I use a Trak4 after recommended from other guys. Got on amazon sale for $30ish and like $60ish a year for basic service. Mine is the rechargeable one. Seems to last at least 6 months on a charge. They also sell a solar powered on, I think would work good on enclosed or camper, and a hardwired one.

Bumping an old thread. Anyone use satellite tracking versions? I notice most use cell service so if you park your tow rig in the middle of nowhere while wheeling you have to hope the thief takes it to an area with service.

The satellite ones work regardless? Am I overthinking this?
