Pretty much all our birds got sick this past week. Lethargy, green smelly diarrhea, no appetite.

Our rooster who was our first sick chicken we treated with Corid and his symptoms were improved within 4-5 days. We added Corid to our flocks water source as a preventative assuming it was coccidiosis, however they are all now experiencing the smelly diarrhea, letgergy, etc.

One of our sick hens seems to continue to decline but her symptoms include paralysis of her legs. I'm second guessing this is coccidiosis. Anyone have any experience or thoughts what this could be and what treatment we could try?

Isn't there currently a big avian flu H5-N1 that's causing deaths and birds to be euthanized?

All over the news...

How old are they? Are they young and just get put out in the yard/coop? Symptoms seem like cocci. Corrid and change water daily.

The bird flu usually kills about 75% within 48hrs.

I read that don't share the chicken feed/water w/other birds. Agree on fresh water daily but wash them too prior to filling up-

The hens probably 8 months and has been free ranging for months. She's been sick and separated for about 5 days now.

CHICKEN ****ER.

I need to bait some dogs in, send your chickens this way, with or without heads.

Cocci most likely. Mix some sugar water or even molasses in water and give it to them. They'll basically dehydrate and die if left untreated.

My wife says to post about it here in this facebook group.

She says it could be Merek Disease but not sure

Here is the group that knows everything about sick chickens

How long have you had them? Have they been exposed to any other birds recently? I've raised them for a few decades. It don't sound good though. Are they "purebred birds/fancy"?

Don’t get too worked up new ones cost a dollar.

So after 10 years of chickens I’ve never studied their scat daily.

Dumb question, but what happens if you cook and eat a bird infected with bird flu? Isn't protein protein, or is an infected bird still harmful to humans even after it's cooked?

I was wondering about this the other day, with deer being infected, OORC the Michigan game dept recomended wearing gloves and avoiding the lungs as much as possible because that would be where the virus would be
