I want to attempt to add android/carplay to my old dd...

A lot of people liked the Boss Elite 10.1" that was $400 and had a single USB for CarPlay and Android Auto. I loved it, put it in my F-250, then moved it to my daughter's car. I had been using a Pioneer 2600 which has CarPlay via USB and have been happy with it, but liked the wireless CarPlay...

I would suggest Crutchfield because if you have any issues they will work with you to make it right.

^^^^^ I think you are probably right. Leaning towards a touchscreen deck since it would probably be a good looking and functioning set up for roughly the same price...

The add on is primarily interesting because it could be moved from one vehicle to another and set up very easy..

I did the boss elite for the motorhome from crutchfield.
I like it, easy install, works well on android auto with spotify or pandora; and split screen for the navigation / music.
And the screen tilts / rotates just enough to be seen in the motorhome from the drivers seat. Mine is too old for the wireless version, but I'd assume it would work just as well.
