An Idiots guide to House Repair

The mistake I did was leave the recommended end gap to the walls. It was too much, and my choice of trim did not hide it. I should have gone with 1/4" max.
Made the same mistake , dumb gap between the base board. :shaking:

I have the same thing in a few spots. I didn't want to remove baseboard and replace it with new stuff. Quarter round is just annoying and ugly at this point.

pink carpet means little dogs.
they supposedly had a poodle at one time.

Yeah, but it’s probably what I’m going to be using to match the rest of the house. I’m told that all the trim in this house is oak, they wanted white trim :lmao:

My brother stopped in and I’m thinking I’m gonna demo out the powder room and do a larger bath area. The master bedroom has 2 closets, powder room and a tiny bath. I’m gonna have to Find more of that wallpaper though.

I spend 3 hours tearing up the carpet pad. That shouldn’t have been that bad, but that room is done for now. New outlets are in.

There is a company that can recreate wallpaper. They do amazing work. If you end up needing something like that, let me know, I'll hunt up their contact info. they are pricey... but, can make anything.

I'm debating about it. If not, Ill set it out at the cabin as a flowerpot. The shower defenitley has to get bigger. I'm 6'-3" and the shower head only comes up to my shoulders. :shaking:
Keep it in the house. It reminds everyone you can ski and surf in the same day...in California.

To Help those at home follow along. Here is the demo floor plan. The office is the one that got the new coat of paint this weekend.

Then the New Floor plan. Mainly alot of paint, but removing the kitchen wall is going to require some electrical. I want to add some recessed cans in the dining room area as well.

Where is the mastubatorium?:lmao:

I've been living in a construction site for a few months now, total gut and new finishes on everything.

Are you spraying or rolling paint? I got the small graco airless paint sprayer and it has saved a bunch of time. Takes more time to mask and clean up than paint a room.

Sir, we only have a masturbation bath. We don't have that kind of budget. :flipoff2:

Rolling all of it other than the mural in the office.
I'm debating about doing the airless paint sprayer. That would be nice in the 12' high foyer.

I just rolled my hallway because I didn't want to mask off 6 doors, the ceiling, and some built in cabinets, had to do 2 coats and I'm still not happy with it. With the Sprayer I just hose that shit on.

This one will also use any of their tips so you can get fine finish tips for cabinets etc.

Edit:

Get one of these if you get a sprayer makes masking 100X easier:

I don’t know. $260 is a lot of money. I’ll think on it a bit.

Got a 20a outlet to finish up the new installs on the office.

Whomever the fuck made glue on carpet needs to be brought up from the dead and shot.

2 things to note.
1. The local dump started a new policy that only 250lbs per day are allowed. I guess I’ll be making multiple trips next week. Disguised as bagged trash
2. If you borrow a few peoples tools, wrap them in different colored electrical tape to remember what tool goes to who.

Or just use a marker to write their names on the blue painters tape...then again I don't have the deep pockets for buying multiple colors of tape :lmao:

I still have leftover colored tape from a factory job 10 years ago. Since the purchasing guy was an absolute idiot. I ain't putting Pink on my buggy, however I will put it on my dads tools. :lmao:

Just cause I want to shit up the thread and Zuki's carpet was pink. Made some progress over the last couple of days on the pink living room (auxilliary masterbatoruim #2) THAT AINT POPCORN ON THE CEILING!

I also wanted to post it because it is wild that you can see the location of the recessed electrical panel and even the studs faintly.

I've never seen popcorn walls before. :barf:
Also, that vaccum is very menacing.

Does that thing have a window? Seems like evening sun seems to bring the xrays out with it.

can't see it well in the pic, but FWIW - if you've got unique old switches, don't toss them immediately

I had bunch of 50's pushbutton switches in the previous house we reno'd. they were apparently desirable and I got $50 or $100 each for them. I had something like 8, so it was definitely worth the effort.

These are just standard old/broken 20A toggle light switches that are going to be replaced. IF there was any push buttons, I’d keep them.

Also, they left this foot pump organ downstairs. I think I’m gonna try and find a home for it.

Window is to the left, south facing so not a whole lot of light.

I think the uninsulated electrical panel and studs are showing through because of years of thermal bridging on the west wall.
