Ok, this deserves a thread of its own...honestly doesn't apply to just tools (just happens to be what my YouTube audience is), but this shit actually works to get stupidly good deals on Amazon every now and then:

Thought you bitches might appreciate it and not clickbait at all.

Being able to order shit at 10pm on a Saturday and it showing up at 11am on a Sunday?
Takes usually 7-10 days for me with Prime. Sometimes the stars like up and it's 3 or 4 days.

Really? I'm in Alberta and never have I experienced that. 5 days is the fastest I've seen even pre-covid.
I'm in southern Ontario, so there's a main distribution center within an hour. Can get most stuff next day with prime as long as I order before midnight.
dude.. did you make that whole video by yourself?

Im impressed

Yup, 100% myself this evening. Took a few hours to script, record voice, find and snip supporting images, edit, and publish. It's getting faster/easier with each video I do.

Good work, my man. That's effort that paid off because it looks and delivers awesome. I wish you the best.

Thanks for the info. Gonna help me a lot since I got kids that browse Amazon.

Can you make a graph with your time wasted vs money saved over just buying the fucking thing when you need it and getting back to work?

You remind me of the people that drive 20 miles to save $0.15/gallon filling up at costco.

Sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn't. Last year I needed a new fireplace grate. I ended up with a $100 grate for $9. Before that was $50 worth of lawnmower blades for $6. My $120 engine stand cost me $45. ~$500 of helper springs for my truck cost me $180.

It's always worth checking Amazon warehouse when you need something. I like brickseek for things that aren't time sensitive, but they seem to get a little more worthless every time I check it

I scored a full powerstop brake kit for my krautcar for $70 on amazon.
front/rear rotors, pads, hardware and sensors.
algorithm fucked up cause nobody bought it and there were 2 left, marked it down from $400 to $68.

So the "secret" is to cart-it and wait? Ya, not going to do that. When I get on there its because I NEED something to get a job done, a car on the lot or to make the war department happy. None of those reasons can wait. "ain't nobody got time for dat"

If you can swing it(paperwork and shit), upgrade to a prime biz account. A lot of the parts and tools I buy, has a discount for the "business". May not be 50-75%, but $20 is $20.

There's a huge thread one gj with a couple guys that post up some tools and shop deals they find. Pretty good stuff in there but it goes quickly.

I've found myself saving less on tools, but a ton on shop supplies and accessories. Stuff like $18 and $22 for coolant pumps for machines - for the real ones, not an aquarium pump. Boxes of walter abrasives for $15-20, air fittings and hoses. Only gotten a bad egg a couple times, once someone took the good stuff and returned a broken one, another was a clear scam - swapped for different brands. Both times amazon returned it without question

The key is planning. If I know that I will need brakes in the next 6 months I'll go on and 3camels brake pads for right over their lowest price. Stuff I always need in the shop just stays on the list waiting for a deal. If you are always doing just in time it doesn't work. Planning and patients can save you. Plus after the last couple years all that JIT shit they taught me in school is looking awful foolish

Most of the time I spend on this is during work, stuck on some stupid conference call. So its double - I'm getting paid to save myself money :flipoff2:

I addressed that in the video, said this isn't for things you must have right now. For sure sometimes you just gotta bite the bullet and do it same day. But for stuff you want in the next few months or where you aren't fussy on brand/model it works quite well. The price trackers and comparing though can save you from just ordering blind and hoping it's a good price.

I'm on Amazon every other day anyway, probably spend 5 extra minutes a week and get a really good deal (50%+ off) once every month or two and a decent deal (20-30% off) at least every month.

I scooped up several ring & pinion set for under $50. I search by sort low to high and find them.

My best score was too big of a steal the seller likely balked & canceled.

Under $50 when normally $500-$600

One of these things ain't like the other. I wonder what you would get a set of piston rings or a ring and pinion.
