The balloonatics have arrived. 😖 Good news for the kids though. This is their 3rd year of working it. Good pay for early-20YOs

The new Zozobra balloon is pretty badass, although I question the decision to build it given how he dies every year in Santa Fe. 150' tall balloon.

I agree. So glad I don’t have to work that event or deal with the traffic anymore.

Although it would be cool for a visitor that comes out for a couple of days for it. I just didn’t like dealing with the crowds. Feel the same about the state fair.

Really? I've never noticed it going on except when people mention it :homer: Of course, I drive in when it's still dark and don't venture north of I40 or west of Eubank.

EDIT: driving to the airport today seemed pretty normal :confused:
 
I worked hot air balloons in Napa Valley CA for a few years long ago. I hate crowds but this is a bucket list event for me and I will go at least once.:homer:
 
Huge event for the RV crowd, especially if you can get inside the main area near the landing and take off areas. But watch your rigs, every year some RV is hit by a abasket it seems like.
 
Was always fun driving past there when I lived in Vegas. Never stopped though because I was transporting patients to appointments.

I "think" the Great Prosser Rally is the largest in WA. With ~20 balloons. We have over 600 registered this year from what I've read. :eek:

There are very few balloons flying anywhere else in the world for the next week.

Yeah prosser. It was more than 20, but younguys get a silly number. 600 is insane. Would bebworth checking out some time when I can take a week with the motorhome and parking early, driving nowhere and leaving late
 
The Albuquerque Balloon Festival is "the" thing if you're into hot air balloons or in the business. And everyone I met in the business was very much into hot air balloons.

If any of you get a chance to take a ride in one, do it. You'd be surprised at how much control a good pilot has in a hot air balloon.

RV parking is insane $$$$ from what I've heard. Throw a toad on the back of the RV, park behind my garage (50A hookup), drive in to the park and ride.

Kid wants to go back to white sands, I'm hoping we have time to hit it this year. Lots of cool stuff in NM :smokin:

Great to visit, seems terrible to live in :flipoff2:
