Next thing I did was to give it v6 calipers and fj62 rotors. An fj80 master and a dual diaphragm booster.
I got some parts thinking that was going to turn it into a crawler and also did some wheeling with a group. I was the only one on 31s open open. No issues

Then I bought a friends rig, with the plan of taking the drivetrain. Only to realize I didn’t want or need two of the same crawlers.

I sold the runner and wheeled my rig and parked the extra cab while I was traveling for work. About a year later I decided to play with it again. I pulled it out and cleaned it up. Did some camping and drove to nv to do some trails out there. I blew up the 22r on the trail. Not sure how but sized. We pull started it and it ran until I got off the trail. Driving on the highway with started to come apart and lost all power. 12am in nv. Luckily I got a ride from a friend and called AAA

So with a blown 22r it sat under a tarp for a while.

I was starting to plan a ecotec swap but then my job started to become unstable. I was working in petrochemical. I did some classes and got certified for water treatment operations. Waste and was working on drinking water when I was offered a mechanic job for a local city.
I bought a 91 2wd that was a good runner. Drove it from nv and decided to pay a shop to do the swap because I was still traveling for work.

That’s a condensed version up to now. We used an ors harness and all oem junk. It’s an awesome runner now. It’s smog except but could pass, all the emission equipment is installed.

It has 4:88s and 31s so top speed is like 65. I’m going to 33s and I plan on daily driving this to work at the water treatment plant to become debt free for a while and take advantage of people that default on property. The suspension is garbage and borderline dangerous to completely dangerous. I’ll be asking how you would build a mild wheeler that was still a nice driver.

My rig is a 85 4runner with a 4.3 vortec swap. 4l60e and dual cases. Lockers and 37s. I don’t want another rig that can do the con. I want something that can undercover do slick rock or just fire roads.

Mainly how to set up the suspension. It’s tall on 31s now

I wanted some progressive rate leafs like I enjoy on my 4runner but have heard negative reviews from alcan and atlas. The two I’m aware of. My buddy has a r150f and a r150 bell that I can toss in but I’m not sure I need that yet. I don’t want to do drive lines and cross members before I do the steering. Mainly because im driving this to work. About 15 miles.

Im starting to think bastard packs will be my only option.

I had that mind set that there could never be too many. There’s an 69 patrol tucked back there too. I sold one of the 4runners when my son was born to “down size”

Look at 1/2t 73-93 dodge stock rear leaves. 52” OAL, center pin offset two inches (24”/28”) Subtract individual leaves to your liking. Probably how I’m going to build my 4Runner when I SAS it. Used them to build a bastard pack on my current rig using the Toyota top leaf as I’d already set it up for those.

I'm guessing not.
Wheelers for the wounded Calif.
Plans for the Nissan on the burner?

Nope that’s not me, but I’m the rubirunner from Pbb.
Yes, I got it to build a streetable buggy that had a lower cog then my Toyotas. It is pre smog and will fit the ls nicely. I was about to start gathering parts and then my wife said she was pregnant. So it has just sat. I was told it will run, it just needs spark. I haven’t tried

When I picked the truck up from the shop that performed the 22re swap, the hood down bolt for the distributor was loose.

I stopped at a friends house and when we were checking it out, it got moved. He did have a timing light there, so we set it by ear and I drove home.

A few days later I went to hazard frought and got a light and attempted to set the timing.

With the new harness, the diagnostic plug was missing the Te1 wire. (One of the wires to jump) I was unable to set the base timing. I did set total timing at 14 and what a difference in power and response. I was able to lower the idol and man it’s a quick little truck now.

I’ve been driving it for a few days over the bridge and it’s a neat little daily. It’s difficult to hold 65 when the flow of traffic is 90. I’m even getting passed by big rigs. :lmao:

So far it’s been reliable for daily use. Hopefully It will hold up for another year so I can bank some money.

When I swapped a dual diaphragm booster in it I took for a smashed taco, it intermittently started to not release the vacuum. Causing the brakes to drag. The peddle will be hard and at the top of the throw. Pulling the vacuum hose will bleed the pressure and return to normal operation.

I drilled out the check valve and the issue is still occurring, less frequently. Anyone experienced this before? I have another one to swap in but this is a first for me. I’ve done this swap quite a few times.

I’ve been driving this daily to work and did a few light wheeling trips. It’s been great and getting much better gas mileage since going to 33s.

It has a no start issue the other day and would only click when the key was turned. Knocking on the starter was unsuccessful. I may need to add a solenoid to bypass the relay. I haven’t worked on it to see what it was yet.

It’s still fun to drive. I had a new cat back exhaust installed to get rid of the rattles from the old falling apart muffler.

Still all factory, current starter is from the stealership.
I have had good service outta ford/type relays.
Look for the load/amp capacity.
Also the 24v load center ones

Why would you put a shitty ford solenoid in there? You can replace the contacts for 20$ and it will be good for another 15 years. Pro tip, deburr the edges of the contacts. They are stamped and have sharp edges which leads to arcing. You can get super tweeky and lap the contacts with valve lapping compound. The less they arc the longer they last.
