About to call it a day. Blew up a boulder that slide down across the driveway.

Spent the day at the U of M children's hospital in Ann arbor.
My daughter has been there all week.

She decorated me and then we boated ( normally we would be at the lake...)

Not how I would have liked things to go but so be it , I feel lucky compared to half the kids I see stuck here...

Came back from working on the house and starting on the shed frame. Ozark and Springfield had the motherload of fireworks going on as usual.

We got ready to head to Big Whiskey's and blowing rain starts. Place was closed and fireworks tents were getting blown over. Got back in the apartment to figure out dinner and the tornado sires fire up. Just the first round if high wind, for now.

Leadfoot21 actually lives like 20 minutes from me, which is about 100 miles from here. ... And we still havent been able to find time to hang out, even when we are both at our homes. :lmao:
Haha yep! We will one of these days . I’m actually camping on the other side of the state at jelly stone at mark twain lake. Having an amazing time with the family .

Went to a show last night. About 2 hrs of everyone lighting mortars and shit. Then the real show started. Had the kids with us so low key. Had a good time.

Across the bay there was an “incident” where a pile of fireworks light off. Still trying find a downloadable or linkable video of it. Someone(s?) has less fingers now, some kids got hurt, big fight ensued and a lot of people got arrested. Not sad I missed it one bit. Hope the kiddos involved get better quick.

Nothing going here. Worked a half day. Wife/kid out of state. Gonna go home and patch holes in her Subaru, and demo some bathroom. Whee.

My dog died, so at least he's not terrified of fireworks now.

Enough mouth cancer he couldn't close properly, or eat. They chopped it out, it grew back in 2 weeks. Then it putrefied, outgrowing the blood supply. The vet said she could remove half of his jaw, part of his face, and maybe get him 6 months. Nope. Good bye, old boy.
It's time when they're not happy.
I am sorry :(

The vet removed one and less than a month later three more came back. That smell is bad, but come to think of it, last night Joey's mouth didn't smell bad. He kept me awake most of the night wanting to snuggle.

As soon as he cannot eat, drink or seems to be in pain we will put him down. He woke me up for food last night and RAN to it.

Prayers for your daughter.

I went back to bed before dark and Ste woke me up to see the fireworks from town. First time for us as I guess we always go to bed too early.

We tried to get our dogs outside to notice them, but they didn't care. Most of the dogs in area were barking at the big booms, ours went back to bed.

Pathetic Excuse For Backyard Fireworks Display Doesn’t End With Everyone Cowering Behind The Shed

DAYTON, OH — A lousy, embarrassing excuse for a July 4th backyard fireworks display ended this evening without a single family member hiding for safety behind the shed.
"I'm not sure what went wrong," said Bruce Hayes, father and chief pyrotechnician of the Hayes family. "Most years, our fireworks display ends in all-out pandemonium and a hasty retreat behind the shed. Never once did I feel this year that my life was in legitimate danger. I made some poor decisions and frankly don't even deserve to call myself American."
The real disappointment of the night was the $300 "NUCLEAR PSYCHO FULLY-AUTOMATIC QUADRUPLE CONFLAGRATION DELUXE" that the Hayes family was saving for last. But after lighting it and running for dear life, the firework just emitted a bunch of fireballs that exploded at a safe distance in the air, failing to even set the grass on fire.
"What a waste," said Hayes. "I think the issue was I actually spent too much on fireworks. I probably got the safer brands that don't blow up in your hands. My mistake."
At publishing time, the Johnson family was pulling out the riding lawn mower to let their 7-year old son drive in an attempt to try to recapture some of the true July 4th spirit.

Stayed in last night. Fed calming chews to all the dogs to keep them from going bonkers from the fireworks.
We bought calming chews for our labs for tomorrow. Otherwise they’ll go nuts all afternoon watching everyone walking around town.

Do they work, wife has a yorkie/pom designer mutt that doesn't do car rides well. Tried the calming vest but that didn't work. I'll have to look into these.

It was funny here in Michigan. Several years back, anything that made a noise or left the ground was illegal for Joe Homeowner.

But for the previous 10 years, everyone was lighting off the illegal ones. And cops gave up trying to perform any type of enforcement unless someone complained. Indiana and Ohio were making a killing selling to Michigan residents. The out of state stores had places just over the border and were advertising all over the lower peninsula.

Some dumbass politician/bureaucrat finally figured out how much in sales tax they were missing and no one was enforcing the law so they changed it.

They work well for our dogs. This is what we have now, we’ve used a few different ones.

How long to take effect?

Neither of mine could care less about thunder, shooting, fireworks or travel...but the grooming thing doesn't go too well. Especially now that we bought a table since they would just lay down in the grass before.

Went to my bro in laws fer the 4th. Watched a parade. Grilled dogs and burgers. What pissed me off was that my bro in law took the backstraps from the hog I harvested last week. He was saving them to grill on the 4th. I told him that was a dick move but I did offer fer him to take some if the hog not expecting him to grab the straps.

When I was a kid my uncles would drive into TX and buy all the stuff that was illegal in NM They would bring back 2 or three large grocery sacks full of Roman candles bottle rockets, and one device that would follow our foot steps I remember one chasing one of the uncles as he wnt up on the roof to grandpa's tool shed. Of course all us younger kides were carfull to stay still on the sidewalk when one was lit

Our town started a fireworks ban after last years 4th. Partially because there’s a family that lives along the street where all the activities are that would set shit off all day and irritate the hell out of everyone that was there with their kids for the bounce houses and carnival games, and partially because that night someone brought a box of big fireworks to our yard party and we were setting them off from the middle of the street.
