Hey guys had a question here I am currently setting up a three link on my 94 Toyota pick up and I am having clearance issues with my upper third link on the passenger side. I was wondering if it is ok if I offset the angle of the third link to help with clearance? Or does it have to be parallel with the frame? The upper link comes in contact with my crossover pipe and frame.

I may have to cut and plate part of the frame to help with clearance, as the diff hits the frame on the driver side at desired ride height. Has anyone built a custom front half chassis? Thinking of just cutting the front and building a frame to help clearance everything. Try does have a ls and super duty 05+ axles. Going for low center of gravity

there are a few guys that have cut the front frame off and raised it like 5 or 6 inches and then everything works out like a champ. this is one of my buddies and love how he did it, wish i would have committed to it from the beginning.

hope this helps

4WU kit here. My top link is not parallel with the frame.
re: custom chassis part... I wish I had done it the way Generalee7 did his on the other site.

Doesn't need to be parallel to the frame. Do what you gotta do to make it fit.

I have seen quite a number of chopped frame rails on link conversions.

I’m sort of leaning towards a radius arm setup instead to make it all fit. I sorta don’t want to cut my frame rail to fit my upper link

if you want to be happy with all the work to link the front only to be limited by the frame then stay leaf springs. just my two cents. and once you take fenders off and radiator core support and expose the entire engine its really not much effort. plus you dont have lift your truck to the moon to make it fit.

I put my upper link outside the frame rail to buy me some clearance. Sacrifices were made with the link geometry and not chopping off the whole front end..

Tires rub the lower and clear the upper. Not too bad though. He probably has a little more to work with since he is running a SD axle compared to the KP I'm running. Not saying its the best solution but its an option.

4WU "kit" here, as well, but with Diamond (passenger drop) front axle and 3VZE with Downey headers. My truck has a 1" body lift, so I lifted the motor 1" and "massaged" the custom crossover to get the upper link to not touch at full stuff. It passes just inside the frame rail. This isn't a great photo, but you can see the upper link if you look closely.

Here's a better one, but at full droop.

I wouldn't worry too much about cutting the frame, as you don't have much choice. I had to narrow (vertically) the frame on both sides to keep the lower links from interfering, and had to really hack up the passenger's side in front of the shock and motor mounts to give the steering links room to clear. It comes with the territory unless you want the thing to be really tall.
