3.4 toyota eng interchange question

A Budy is swapping out an eng in a 2x4 2000 taco, the wreckin yard sold him an eng. from a 2000 4runner after swapping the block perch for the motor mount on driver side, he said the bell housing bolts wont clock to the block... But the block and bell touch top to bottom smoothly.

He asked if the eng. Is the same?
The net claims yes and no.
I've not messed with a v6!
What say you guys?

The block should be the same. Is it hitting something on the passenger side to keep it from being clocked properly? It's been years but I put an 02 engine in my 96 and think there's a block mount on the pass side that had to be swapped over as well.

Thanx the pass side "looked" the same.

Engine tilt and level attachment would not adjust far enough...
