good afternoon,

what are the options out there for shifters,
DIY - pics if you have any
JB customs
ORD triple levers

it was gonna be easy i thought i have the old th350 to 205 mount and i could use that mounting point, right up until i realized i am getting a different one that works with magnum, so back to wed search i have been doing, and the most common is JB and ORD levers..

hmmmm

thanks

For the 205, I used Bronco Graveyard at: NP205 Stainless Steel Twin Stick Shifter Kit. I think it is the JB one, it is similar if not.

Why this one? Because they had one in stock and no one else did.

For the Magnum I used a steel handled generic shift knob from autozone and just bent a rod and threaded it on.

Will post pics in a sec... have to take them first.

Edit: It is indeed the JB twin stick 205 shifter...

Obviously, the Heep is still a work in progress. The twin stick comes with a boot and mounting plate that are not installed yet.

i was worried there would not be room to mount regular steel shift levels i am quite a few months away form shifters but it is on my mind because lead times on anything is a little crazy these days.

The JB looks slick also, do they get gummed up over time with dust and stuff or just work all the time...

thanks

I'm in the same boat. Not sure if I'm just going try making my own or go with NWF cable triples.

Kinda need to see what your dealing with space wise and tunnel mount wise at least that's what I'm doing in my case.

NWF cable triples here, had NWF cable twins with my d300 before that.

Nothing beats cable or pneumatic shifting for getting the t-case shifters in a position that's comfortable for the driver to use.

Ya that's what I was thinking. But need to get mounted before purchase so you know the right length of cable to buy.

I run Jb triple shifter with my nwf eco doubler. Works very well.

when i started researching shifters i was amazed at how little of options there are out there, not complaining at all the JB shit looks legit.

I have jb triple sticks. Haven't mounted them or even thought of driving it as of yet, but they shift the doubler and t case real nice whilst I'm making the racey car noises:smokin:

that made my laugh, were you in the 7 k and beyond with your racey car noises, or were you in the low low i got all the torque from the doubler :lmao::lmao::beer: :beer:

Made my own. Heard a few horror stories about cable shifting a 205, I won't be having those problems.

JB in all stainless is hard to pass up.
I had an electric solenoid air powered shifter all designed and half the parts and let that idea go because it was too complicated to maintain. Cable shifters are proven and have minimal issues. Yes cables have slop and loose tolerances but I can live with that.
I combined the Winters and the JB with some spacers to reduce the brackets needed and to get them as close as possible.
I switched around the JB shift levers and re-bent them so they would clear the Winters. No smashing knuckles, but still close as possible.

Yup you put it into low range then stick the collar on and thread the bolt in.

Just did this myself. Pain in the Dick to set up on the rig though.

My issue is the detents. You can't run the front output indicator light due to the shift linkage wanting to sit inline with it. So you have to use the adjustable detents or cut the electrcal portion off the sensor.

Not sure how tight to make my detents.

i have two more 205s so i swapped out the output indicator with another and have two short ones. these two correct. i see know how the linkage would be a the way with the big indicator one.

Yup. The springs supplied with the adjustable detents are shorter and softer than the originals, maybe to make shifting easier with a cable shifter? Not super sure. Just going to keep adjusting til it feels good.

Man everyone loving these cable shifters makes me wonder what I am missing. I hate the ones in my dads buggy as does he.

what do you use in its place, once you start doing all the extra BS with tcases, like underdrive, twin sticks and all that jazz you loose alot of room to make linkages, then you put all this in a buggy that has no room to spare. . i really love the simple side of cable shifters, but why do you dis like?

I have hard linked shifters and can shift cases with ease unless bound. The cable shifters seem super spongy and give no feeling in the shift, nor enough force IMO>
