2004 Excusion 6.0

Have an opportunity to pickup an 04 Eddie Bauer excursion for $2500. 266000 miles 6.0 powerstroke that won't go 35 mph recently. No rust clean body and interior. No smoke or steam from exhaust. How bad of an idea is it?

How much of a project do you want? It still has 266k however, if you figure in the cost of a rebuilt/deleted engine with a replacement transmission and you might still ahead given current prices.
Probably still need to go through brakes, unit bearings, seals, ujoints, shocks...

Current owner had taken good care of garaged always serviced, was at his vacation house which sold. Then it sat over the winter and this issue cropped up. Books at $13000 in good running shape...

For that low price, no rust, and clean interior it seems like a deal if you want to do an engine swap or fix the 6.0.

I currently drive a 2016 Ford f250 6.7 & miss my 05 6.0 EX almost daily. Such a fun rig & could haul a ton of people comfortably. Buy it or I will. Properly maintained 26k isn't a concern, imo. I had 240k on mine & sold it for $17 k in 2019.........
