What's new

1969 K20, extended cab build

Just received some pictures from my painter.

So the hardest part of the body is now complete. It’s Chevy, hugger orange. The bed, front clip, etc still need body and paint, but it’s all pretty straightforward and if he won’t get it done, I’ll paint them myself.

I’m gonna head down tomorrow, grab the cab and try and get it set on the frame. It’s been so long, hopefully I can find where I put the new body bushings.

So a little further update. The cab has been returned to my painter. There were multiple issues and it was flat out unacceptable.

I have learned a massive lesson that needs to be shared. Never and I mean never, give too much cash up front and don’t deal with friends or family. This has backfired so bad, it’s pissing me off.

I am once again stalled on the project until he corrects the shit paint job.:mad3:

This is a great read on the custom body work business.

Learn how to paint your own car!

I could only make it to this line ...."If they don't allow you to walk around and check the place out, be wary":lmao:

GTF outta here with that. I dont know of many shops of any sort, that are going to give a guy off the street a tour of the place. Realistically if you start with stuff like that, you are getting the PITA tax or goona get fired as a customer

I've accidentally been invited to tour two junkyards, one farm and a couple machine shops because I struck up conversation with the old man when I was there to buy something relevant to the business.

But yeah I generally agree that nobody is gonna let you tour their shit as a matter of normal practice.

Need to retitle that article to "How to be a PITA and pay twice as much as anybody else" :lmao:

The gist of the article is you should be billed hourly each week and pay weekly for the work preformed. It's about restoration/ custom work not insurance jobs that there's a book for estimating.
