Honky Cherokee Build

Seats installed. Exhaust made, that sucked with the severe lack of room. Brake lines finished up. Lap belts installed.

Seat belts bolted in. Brakes bled. Pinion housing leak fixed. Charged the ori struts and set at ride height.

Measured for driveshafts. Gonna have them made tomorrow.

Psc pump and steering shaft u joint showed up! Heading to the parts store to get a belt and hopefully we are steering by the end of the night.

Got .25 wall 1350 jointed driveshafts being made today. 425 each. That was a little more than expected but they should last. I'm gonna drive this like by the weekend! Hell or high water in gonna drive it.

Picked up a set of 5 26% tread 39.5" irocks on h2 wheels for 1500. That'll get me in the trail while I save up for stickies

Got the steering orbital mounted. Lines ran. I am seriously running out of room around the engine. Didn't have the feed line from reservoir to the pump so I'll stop by a hydraulic shop tomorrow and get some. Then I'll finally be able to steer and let the engine run to burp the cooling system.

With this being the extreme series kit it has a monster reservoir. And 12an feed lline
For now I'm going to mount the reservoir to the shock tower crossbar. It keeps the feed line at a downward angle from reservoir to pump. And only needs a 4" feed line.

Finally this **********er moved under its own power. I need to adjust the links and point the pinion up father the straps are hitting the Yoke at the transfer case end the on the front driveshaft. The Ori definitely need redone. But it's fun to drive and low gear on the transfer case load gear on the planetary first it will spin the tires with no effort.
Apparently I don't have the rail shifter hooked up right I'm gonna have to look into that because it's not doing anything.

Re did the ori pressures. 150 lower psi is much much better at controlling body roll.

Still need to figure out the rail shifter but I'm making progress

That rear bumper looks horrible. Rest of the build is ***s.

Your progress on this is amazing! 6 months and almost ready to wheel:mr-t:
I agree. I still have to shape the ends. I can wheel with a stupid looking bumper so it's low on the list.

Need to put a trans cooler on because the cooler lines don't seal on the radiator ports.

Make sure the u joint straps aren't hitting the driveshaft still.

Decided to add a external transmission cooler hopefully it helps engine run a little cooler also. Got to rad designs rail shifter working. Some solder on the power wire was touching the inside of the housing. snipped that back and now it works as it should.

Going to Tuttle Creek Kansas Thursday and Friday to do a good shakedown run

Went to Tuttle creek Kansas today. Did some mild wheeling. And I gotta say that thus thing gets around good. The ori struts ride smooooth. No bad noises. Had to winch a side by side out of the mud. Bumper held fine. Steering worked awesome. Brakes were great. Engine didn't get hot even though it was 97 degrees out.

Turning radius sucks. I need to trim the steering stops so I can get full use of the ram.

Need to hammer the drivers floorboard. Driveshaft hits it at full stuff. Rear struts need more psi in the upper chambers. Bottomed out a bit.

Back to Kansas Saturday. Wheeled with some other xjs and had a good time. Rig held together fine. Did some more challenging trails and pushed it a little. Still happy with how it's handling on the trails.

Went to ks rocks last Saturday. Fun park with more dirt hill limbs but some rock. Xj performed well, shocks working great. Even at speed they are smooth.

I am having oil pressure issues still. Even with 15-40 in it. After a while of wheeling the oil psi drops to near nothing. If I shut it off and let it sit the oil pressure will return. But then leaves in no time flat. Gonna drop the pan and see if there garbage blocking the pickup screen.

Found yer problem! Sludge clogging the oil pickup screen. Fml.

Dunno if getting the engine good and hot on trails in 105 temps caused sludge buildup to come loose. But it was plugged up good.

New mopar high volume pump installed. Oil pan cleaned out. Back to 40 psi again! Hope the engine wasn't hurt but I didn't see any metal in the oil so we will find out eventually.

Put sea foam in the oil and let it run for about 30 minutes. No bad noises. Revved it up to 3,000 Rpms and everything is fine at the moment.

Added a Tom Woods offset u joint to fix the binding issues on the front driveshaft transfer case u joint. Bent my front links so replaced them with 2 1/4 inch aluminum links. Aluminum bead locks on order and now I’m saving up for trep stickies. Got kids seats and harnesses installed in the back so they can start riding with.

Rig has been flawless so far

Another trip to flat nasty in the books. Worked great. Had a blast. Ran every trail In The park that didn’t have skull and crossbones on it.

Rear ori was leaking so sent the back pair in for a rebuild. Working on installing corbeau suspension seats installed.

Put Yukon chromo shafts and superjoints installed up front.
Purchased 43” super swamper stickies on raceline headlocks! Time for traction!

Since this build thread got left behind. rig has been great. nothing broke yet. hard to do with a stock 4.0. im wishing i had a v8. ill build/buy a buggy before i put a ls in this thing.

its got a lot more scratches. no more windshield. and overall has been a solid performing rig. I shouldve just built a buggy to start with.

And now look at it. Beat pile of ****. It got a new radiator lately. That’s about all it’s needed. It’s been leaking for 2 years or more

When I first started reading your thread I was thinking, damn this ****er works fast! haha. Nice work with the rig. At least you have all the parts needed to just swap over to a buggy chassis if you want to.

Noticed the steering ram mount was cracking, it’s beat from ramming rocks. So I ordered the artec ram mount. Got it welded on. Waiting on some parts from psc to get the ram back on.

Can you put up more photos of your rear frame side link mounts?

Also what year is this Jeep. Looks like a remix Jeep.
