"For target practice" ammo

I will point out. That everything else in this world has changed yet folks still look at bullets like its 1970

I really enjoy my 45's. But be it hardcast or a good hp. My 9's are easier to shoot, shoot flatter, and hold more of em...I see no downside

Not stopping the threat?

Eta
I wish I could afford to buy case's of ammo to feed my evil prk toys...
But target vs punching paper is two different things.

dumb question, what mind do they use in war?

im sure fancy ammo is more effevtive, but at the incredibly higher cost, is it used at war?

Deep rabbit hole,
Loosely, ccw wants no exit wound, nato wants a limited wound channel of sorts.

Fordguy, early in the life of the m9 in military service special forces guys were shooting large amounts of submachine gun ammo. (Very hot loaded think +p+ because subguns are much more robust than a pistol.) They had issues of the lock8ng block failing and slides coming off the back of the gun while firing. Beretta sued and won against the .government.
An extra cutout and circular ended tab was added to all m9s. If you really want to go deeply into what happened:

The brigadere and centurion slides are a separate development, evolution.
For the ammo, I mostly shoot 124gr. Ball when out at the range and target shooting.
For carry purposes I usually have 124gr or 115gr hollowpoints.

Funny enough I don't think any of us are carrying specialty or fancy ammo in our ars or aks, ect.

Ball ammo. It's in the geneva conventions.

No fancy ammo, they want the bullets to zip through the bodies, not stop in them.

I don't know why so many think the Geneva Convention covers this stuff, it was about humanitarian treatment of prisoners, civilians, etc. in wartime. The Hague Conventions of 1899 and 1907 were set to establish rules of war including bullets designed to flatten or expand...note the use of mustard gas was after both of these sets of rule were in place, so you can see how effective it was.

ffs. I post about my plinking rounds here a while back, get made fun of, go out and buy critical defense rounds, and now those are a rip off?

I literally don't have any of those rounds./\

Load my own;
6 ARC
6 GT
6.5CM
300 Norma Mag

Buy loaded;
9mm
357 Sig
45 ACP
22lr

no .223 or .308?

Oh gotcha. Why do you want that?

better than .44 mag cheaper than .500 SW, the rugers are said to have the stronger frame over a SW, if you look at both you can see the frame on ruger extends forward (like a stubby is one piece with frame) and SW the frame cuts off and 100% of barell is a separate piece. Ive owned bith SW before and theyre nice but my hard on is for that super redhawk now. because elephant sized aliens.

I'll load some 223

I'll buy 556

i am pretty ******ed and thought they are the same, but which ones do ar15s fire? i have colt 6920s but on aero precision lowers and bought bunch of .223, now I see its a 5.56 🫣

ruger is said to have the stronger cylinder too. anyway its just on my want list for like 3 years now

I actually have a .308 and some 50+ year old ammo for it. It was my Dad's deer rifle and I keep it out of sentiment I suppose, only shot it once. Winchester Model 88, with a Weaver 4x scope and a nice leather sling.

I've shot a 7.5" Super Redhawk in .454 and shooting a full cylinder of those will make you want to go back to .44.

Or you could go with .460 S&W, that will also shoot .454 and 45 Colt and 45 Schofield.

Why do you carry FMJ's?

Because cheap ****. :flipoff2:

+1 on inertia crimp creep!
Daily carry a fmj?
A round designed to damage and retain 100% weight....
Sounds like N.A.T.O. right?!
I wanna STOP the threat DEAD IN IT'S TRACKS.
O.P. Blow son bux on some personal defense rounds of your choice.
Your wife will thank you someday!

Ps
Fire the long round off before it loses headspace and jams!

I’m surprised it wasn’t the very 1st post someone had to scold you for carrying FMJ. Didn’t you know that FMJ quit being deadly when hollow points were invented?

Do yourself a favor and get some holler points and even a pinky toe shot will stop them DEAD in their tracks.

Inconsiderate and irresponsible FMJ

1. Don't do that.
2. Get a small tabletop pistol safe.
3. Get some defensive loads.
4. Shoot your old ammo and replace every six months or so.

social media strikes again.

(ignore the issue, that's be long resolved)

I've shot a 7.5" Super Redhawk in .454 and shooting a full cylinder of those will make you want to go back to .44.

Get up to that big of a slug and the rules seem to change. 1k-1200fps is plenty. Throwing them harder just increases recoil IMO.

I'm pretty fond of my 44's. But everybody with a 45 colt seems to want nothing but a 45 colt.... It has me wondering:laughing:
