77 F150 4x4 SWB Budget build?

helicoils are pretty awesome, exhaust looks like it came out nice
I was surprised how easy it went, i couldnt have asked for a better position.

Thx, kind of miss the raw sound of the thrush glasspacks, but this still seems to have it when you really lean into it.

Exhaust looks nice, any chance of a Video? I'd like to quiet down my old C10 and struggle with what to get.
Ill get one. May be a little while but i will.

They'll eventually break in. They're just a different shaped glasspack. Once the Magnaflow on my 2005 broke in after a long drive to NY it was noticeably louder

Turns out its front pump gasket not the seal.
7 to 8 tooth speedo drive gear while still out
**** them bolts

😳 that’s a job I’m not looking forward to: swapping the transmission.

You’ve got the easy button with a lift and that awesome trans jack.

Why the drive gear change? Because the correct driven gear isn’t available to dial in the accuracy?

I hate that stupid tranny crossmember. Wish I had the 4 speed **** laying around, I would swap it.

I stole the tranny jack for $200, money well spent. Works great for gas tank.

Yes, would probably need a 15 tooth driven gear to get speedo correct, which doesnt exist. So swapped to an 8 tooth drive gear from 7.
Speedo was about 17-18% off..Hopefully this will close that gap to around 5% off, then adjust from there.
If later on I regear I can still get it dialed in too, I think they go up to 21 teeth?

Rep nailed it. Those are the tooth counts I’ve seen while shopping.

Haha dropping the tank. That’s also on the list if I go TBI but I’ll just run it empty first 🤣

The crossmember is my biggest ugh. Makes me want to build a better mousetrap while it’s apart. Nice that it’s so integral but for servicing it sucks!

I need to drop mine again and bend the sending unit arm a bit.

I may have accidently trimed the x-member just a bit with the cutoff wheel while out.

If you have the trans out, replace the torque converter bushing in addition to the seal.
I have one, was planning on it, but theres no play that I can feel...think its still worth the trouble (and possibility of my ****ing something up)?

Iv'e got to pull the pump anyway to replace it's gasket, that appears to be source of my leak. It doesnt look like my seal was leaking at all.

It is fairly easy to replace, especially if the pump is out. Would suck to have the new seal start leaking because the bushing is old with miles on it.

Or at least that is how things go for me. I hate pulling transmissions.
