What did you do to your yota today?

dogs every time the task requires zero dogs lol.

Been restoring my Toyota trailer, this has been my wood hauling trailer for many years. Pulled the ring gear in the diff since I will be dragging it 3000 miles to Florida when I move. Good thing I pulled the diff the axle bearings were bad. Cleaned up the backing plate and pressed on new bearings. Still need to sandblast and paint the wheels.

How do the side bearings get oil on these? Does it need the ring gear spinning the pinion to sling the oil around in the housing? Without a ring gear, will the bearings get enough oil to not lock up on your 3000 mile trip?

The bearings are sealed and don't need oil from my understanding.

Yes, They are sealed bearings

The bearings on the carrier/differential, not the axle bearings...
I believe that the fluid level is high enough and the disc that holds the ring gear should provide enough splash to be okay. I will sure find out lol I thought about making small paddles attached with the ring gear bolts to provide lubrication, still may do that

If the oil level is as high as the bottom of the spider's, you will be fine. The diff rotation should sling enough oil.

I thought they were the goofy ford metric pattern like the F150 and the ranger was 6x5.5, didn't know they were both 6x5.5. Damn cool deal. look just about like the FJ 17's people want $$ for.

Any idea what this might be? Came out when the free plug was pulled on the pass side valve cover of my 5vzfe. Originally I thought it was pieces of the PCV that I heard rattling around, but it looks more like the baffle plate studs. Except I’m not missing any of them and I have no idea how one would get behind it.

Also picked up my heads from the machine shop today.

I was a little worried at first too, supposedly the raptor rangers and raptor bronco's are 6x135mm. I measured though and these are 5.5 (139.7mm or whatever). you can't get steelies for raptors though?

they are 17's. and i really like the steel landcruiser wheel look, but they are so overpriced.

even most of the time i see these ford wheels they are 100-200 for a set of 4.

center holes on these are 3.625" so i need to get a wheel spacer to run a 4.125" hole saw thru em or double up holesaws

No idea what that is. That was loose in the valve cover, just waiting to drop into the engine?

It was behind the baffle plate, couldn’t really fall into the engine from there. Is it part of the old PCV that fell apart?

Don't the valve covers have those baffle plates for the pcv that are riveted to the inside? I vaguely remember on my rz that I couldn't take it apart to clean it out.

Yeah, looks about the size of the rivets but there aren’t any missing and I have no idea how one would get behind the baffle. It would make sense if it was part of the PCV that broke, I’m just happy I got it out.

106mm

Method Wheels use a hub bore of 106.25mm for a 6 Lug Toyota

The information I was finding lead me to believe all ford **** is 6xMM's. I found a FBMP ad that was a used pair of take offs with toyota adapters to bolt em to this dude's tacoma... I'll be following for sure.
