Build Zj 4600 build

I didn't notice that when I posted the link. Looked this morning and yup, price is up $110 from last month. Crap crap. I have the now discontinued Edelbrock headers on Large. Aside from the crappy collector design they're great.

Where did you get those headers you have?

I got one of the coil spring seat / shock mount braces done. It needs a couple plate gussets, but for the most part it’s wrapped up.

On to the other side.

Not much other progress has been made. I pulled some junk heat shield off the underside, drained the oil from the 5.9, and ordered some brackets and trusses for the axles.

Hobble-along Fab.

Keep doing things. Once I reset the timer for GER it’s gonna get set for Fall Crandon, so we have I’m not sure how many days. But probably doable.

Ruffstuff will probably not have my order shipped by then

Race cars and race car accessories I tell ya hwut!

I’m pretty sure you’re beating me in the world’s slowest race car build race. It’s like golf or something? Lowest score or whatever. I’m not good at sports.

Gussets.

It’s time to finish the chassis up for good. Gussets are next on my list.

The rule says:
Gussets must be installed at all major intersections, including diagonal and rear down braces, where single weld fractures can affect occupants' safety.

I’m not sure what all them words mean.

Here’s a couple pictures of my cage. Can you guys let me know where I need to put things?

Chase light mounts are done

Drivers seat mount is done

And I drilled some holes in the fuel cell mount

Passenger seat is next. Still have to attach the cage to the unibody rails, and add some thin plates to tie the cage into the body in a few places. Along with 1,000 other things.

Where’s the 609 progress :flipoff2:

The diff I had for mock up has broken bearing caps, so I can’t use it to hold the alignment bar in. I’m going to run gearworks hp diffs and don’t really want to use that to hold the alignment bar for fear of somehow screwing it up. So I’m kinda waiting in circle track season to start in hopes that one of those guys ruins a diff just bad enough that I can use it.

Basically, I’m procrastinating.

Buy the GW diff. Pretty sure I have aluminum pucks in that box for both bearing sizes. You only need the 3rds to hold the pucks.

I have some 40spl 3.810 bearing spools that are brand new I’d make a hell of a deal on if you wanna ball out.

You have the right pucks. I was really trying to hold off because it’s easier to spend 7500 on diffs when they’re dropping into a plumbed and wired ready to go roller, as opposed to buying them for a 6month project that’s late in its second year.

I do want to ball out. But, I’m using stock length 35 spline sd60 shafts since I figured an oem 1550 shaft with sub 450hp and 35” tires is pretty unbreakable. If I prove that wrong, I will definitely upgrade to the 40 splines and branik or rcv shafts.

In my non-facet opinion this means you only need gussets where you're sitting. Behind you won't affect you if you cartwheel down a hill. I could be totally wrong though. It could mean the V notch by your drivers seat.

Pitbullcruiser might know about this.

Either way. Hurry up lol, I have have some more steering 14 bolts coming down the pipeline. Not that I particularly want to do them in any sort of hurry but the guy I build them for already dropped off a full stick of 3.5” 0.375 wall.

Tell you what I’ll make you a deal. You hurry up and get your car done and I’ll hurry up and get the trail car done.

Got both seats mounted. Rear mounts slide into a slot. Front mounts use a pin and clip. Both mounts are double sheer on the chassis side. Passenger side is tilted back a little farther so a guy can be a little taller over there. I’m 5’9” and barely have the required helmet clearance in the drivers side.

Maybe dash is next? Still waiting on a t case to dial in the engine / trans mounts.

Hoping that case ships out here pretty quick, maybe if I get a minute tomorrow I’ll give Advance a buzz and see if they have an updated ETA for ya.
