What did you do to your yota today?

Brought the Tacoma to EJS for some easy trail running. Ran Copper Ridge yesterday. Mostly in low range with hubs unlocked. The last 2 miles of the trail, actually needed 4wd. No big deal. 500 feet from the main exit road, had a down hill, hard right turn on solid rock, not under power. Heard a pop in the front end. Hoped it was the locker unloading, it wasn’t.
When I put the diamond in it, it came with rcv inners. I reused the stock 27spline outers. Been in there almost 10 years with no issues.

Tomorrow I get to order a new inner and outer. Cracked the bell, blew the cage apart, which jacked the splines on the chromo.
So question is, do I replace the custom length inner and 2 chromo outers, or buy 2 custom length 30 splines?

Go 30 spline it's probably similar price,same diameter across the whole shaft and that's what most people run these days. TG inner shafts have held up well for me over the years and I was pretty hard on them.
 
****ing thing put up a fight :shaking: Not exactly a bolt you can buy locally either. Feed store had some longer stuff that will get me by. Stripped out side is going to need to go under the knife to fix. But I need the rack tomorrow so its "temporarily" fixed...

SPUA with the 4" lift leafs for J10-Wagoneer is pretty low while keeping any up travel. When I first did my SAS closest 4wheelparts were out of the old reliable 44044's for SPOA but had the 4" lift ones sitting on the shelf leftovers so I got them cheap. Cleared 35's with that and the 3" body lift the truck already had. That was right before I decided to go mental and do the SPOA and drop hangers to clear 44's.

If I was doing one now I would maybe start with a pair of weld it yourself XJ long arms and a custom trans crossmember then just use off the shelf TJ\XJ springs and shocks with replacement coil buckets.
 
Im still waiting on the 4runner transmission, so I decided to do the valve cover gaskets. Been at it about a week, taking my sweet time. Passenger side is done so onto the driver side.

Didn't clearance the oe knuckle balls or was your shim pack off from the scraping birf. Only time I've dented those shafts is when I've had a birf let go and I was still driving it with all the parts destroying themselves.
 
I didn't pull the front apart when it broke. Finished driving/winching the last couple hundred feet. I had to get after it a bit because 3 wheel drive/slope/sand/large rocks. There is still a piece of the race wedged between the ball and the knuckle.
 
Noticed the other day when I was unloading the Tacoma that the rear bumper looked like it was tweaked up. After looking closer at it, found that I bent both rear frame rails. I had dropped off a decent sized ledge while in Moab. I have dropped much bigger ledges in my Xcab, and never had an issue. It seems (after reading on it) that the tacomas have weak frames behind the axle….so had to tie the truck down and straighten the frame.
Removed the bed today and installed some inner frame plates.

I actually use the spare tire carrier under the bed. The factory cross member bolted inside the frame, so had to cut and weld it.

Finishing up the rear suspension redo.. broken shock mount turned into redoing the shock hoop, adding bumpstops, replacing cracked leaf perches, converting the shocks to a bottom side resi outlet, and adding a leaf to the pack.

Time to teardown, paint, then put it all together

what's that doohickey on your resi hose coming out of the shock body?
