Sceep mentioned removing pepper skins

Can't say I've ever done it eaten lots of roasted peppers with the skin on.

Unless it's going to end up a sauce, what's the point

I don't peel carrots, peppers, potatoes

Haven't skinned an apple in 30+years, never skinned a kiwi

Thicker stuff like an orange or melon, sure

Is there something I'm missing out on :rasta:

I guess it's only green chiles that get peeled? I've never peeled a jalapeno or habenero...

The chiles have a tough almost like thin, medium hard plastic, skin after roasting that sucks. Grounds for beating the chef if someone gets a chile skin flake in their food. 🤣

I just had the other one for dinner after letting it sit in the fridge, skin made it easy to eat as a handheld food while cold

Turns out, internet searches result in much confusion about must do and never do conversations about very small nutritional differences or disease or some such

Also learned that white cap, medium and portobella are all the same mushroom, just picked at different times

Maybe it's because my peppers are al dente due to the **** ass electric stove, so the skin doesn't fall off as much

Potatoes - mashers & stew yes I peel them, but I also like twice baked and the skin is part of that.
Carrots- for me yes I peel them or at least scrub them. I make dog food and he gets the easy button of no peel.
Mangoes- yes
Pineapple- yes
Apples -no, but washed
Pears - same as apples
Oranges, lemon, limes-yes, but zest is a great ingredient as well.
Bananas-of course
Onions-yes
Garlic-yes
Broccoli-no
Asparagus-no
Do I keep going or is this enough…

I'll generally skin a pineapple.

More or less same here.

Though I've stopped peeling carrots in the last year or so, found they stay more firm but not overly so when cooked that way. Found out the hard way though that does not carry over to parsnips at all though.

I don't because my hands are bad and it tires them out too fast. I myself cannot eat the skin of most every vegetable and fruit so I have to pick them out of soups if not blended up.

so y'all are really just out here raw dogging kiwis with the fur still on it?
Yes, they are a pain in the ass to peel.

The question is, are people eating pineapple skin? That one seems obvious needing to be peeled or like I do and cut the top and bottom off and use the cutter that cuts the center out. https://www.oxo.com/shop/kitchenwar...Tz5lZDJzpofq9svhFp9ui2YtxUemIcOmcaJIAGNsUSxAE

There are multiple types of kiwi some have edible skin some don't. If your eating green kiwi skin you should probably see a psychiatrist. Idk about gold kiwi. Hardy kiwi had edible skin.

I generally don't peel veggies.

For peppers, yeah their skin can be tough even when slow cooked in a chili for a long time. So if they are going in a chili or something that is a sauce, I usually blend them up instead of steaming and removing the skins. Although lately, we've just been smoking our peppers and grinding them up into powder, and using them that way.
