What's On Your Bench?

so this is on my bench and its going slow tiny tiny screws. then got to the part to put links on the bolts are missing. like not here. so working though that now. also i dont do much time with this because its hard as hell to put all them tiny screws in . damn there has to be 400 or more parts.

goal is to put this under a body i am 3d printing. project LJ on face book has a group. pretty cool so far.

fresh proline predator tsls and some blue injora inserts with some used wheels. Made a huge difference!

I've found those inserts, at least on the yellow ones, work better if you cut the outside layer off tight to leaving the connecting material. Let's the tires squish over obstacles better while still getting the benefit of the inserts. YMMV.

Thats great, I was thinking the screws on the scx24 were too big anyway :flipoff2:

Got some wheel weights for the trx4m. Heaviest ones I could find on amazon for a 1.0 wheel, they show up and say 1.3 on the package :homer: chucked them up in the lathe at work and opened up the centers enough so they’ll slip over the beadlock centers of my aluminum wheels

So now I’ve got an extra 80-90ish grams down low :smokin:

Motor also went out on the youngests, course it was only a couple wheeling trips after tearing the whole thing apart to replace the transmission lol…

So now both scx24s are running the injora purple motor. The one that quit was a more high strung Samix motor, so He might complain that its slower now but if it keeps me from having to tear that whole chassis down again I’m all for it  the one in the deadbolt has been going strong over a year, kinda like the 22re of the mini crawler world

Damn those things are small.

Kinda want one, but at same time seems too small to really enjoy, more of a novelty.
It's actually pretty damn capable for how tiny it is. I was driving it all over the desks and **** at work yesterday and it just rolled right over everything. Staplers make a pretty good RTI ramp for them.

I figure it'll be good for inside my tiny ass apartment. It's small enough I can 3D print some terrain and throw it on the counter and mess around with it.

Yeah...

I don't know if I'll mod this one anywhere near as heavily as the 24 just for that reason. Then again the parts for these are even cheaper than they are for the 24s.

Out of the box though it's a lot nicer than my 24 Basecamp was though. Way more detail and the body is more like a die cast model body than just a flimsy plastic shell.

I've been happy with that, hard to beat brushless for $60 and the low rang is night and day over the brushed motors and it's just as fast if not faster than that purple brushed motor at full speed. It won't fit that tube chassis though.

MN99s getting some metal axles and wheels. Totally changed how it wheeled. So much weight down low now, made it really capable. The tires/ wheels from amazon are a little smaller than stock, but hook up really well. I did have to TOTALLY go through these axles a few times to shim the pinion and re tighten and locktight all the set screws in there because they kept coming loose. Well see how they hold up. These parts seem to be for a wpl even though they are listed for this, so not all bolt right up. I have metal links and shocks for it too, but havent gotten there yet. I have about 1.5X the cost of the rig in metal parts lol.

Used some 5mm to 12 mm hex adapters to get put 1.55s on the m99s with one of the smallest tires I could find for that size rim.

Pretty close to the factory size, but a hair bigger. First amazon set on the left, stock in the middle and the new ones on the truck. Because of the adapters and the hexes in the axles they still ride way out on the end of them. We may change it but works for now. All the weight on this one makes the drag brake useless so we may go back to the stockers. The metal axles really give it all the weight it needs.

rccrawler.com looks to be having some trouble this am? Any other rc forums still active out there?

Not on the bench yet, but I did pre order that tan toyota axial just released.

I noticed that too on rccrawler. That damn site drives me crazy though too. It would be sweet to get some of them onto this site instead.

That Toyota bodied rig is sweet

Been a good 8 years but some interest is getting revived so I dug out my first generation scx10s. Hilux still has an old and trusty XR10 mod and the runner needs some front suspension work but it's running some CVDs, both have CMS and metal upgrades. Going to fix the runner suspension, got new batteries and a new bed for the Hilux on the way and a buddy of mine is printing me an ASA 3rd Gen 4runner body. The Hilux is a Tamiya hard body and the 4runner is an original bigbird ABS 1st gen.

Put the 50* steer wide meus axles under the bronco and picked up the apex 18. Wish I had never even bothered with the scx24s now. The amount of money it takes to make the scx do what the apex does straight out of the box is insane. Highly recommend.

Throwing together some cars for this weekend for the kids and realized one of the bodies was a lot more beat up than I thought. Ordered a Pro-line Coyote body and painted it with whatever paints I had laying around. Came out better than expected.

The closest I'm aware of are made by Injora. Kind of a modern spin on them though

RC4WD has an bunch of really cool scale looking wheels though no turbines/hurricanes
