Im looking at making a few modular courses since there is too much snow to crawl out side. Ideally they would be something I can set up/take down and move. Probably going to be building them on pallets/plywood. Looking to see what other folks have done for man made courses, features you have liked, or that were unique and made it fun. Thanks!

Found these images on google because what good is a thread without pics:

It's not really practical for 1/10 scale, especially if it is remotely capable, but definitely doable for ~1/24 scale trucks. A couple wheel barrow loads of ~6-12" rocks works pretty well, and once you get tired of running all the same lines, it is easy to rearrange and make new obstacles. I would never buy material to build a permanent course that would have to be stored.

I have a buddy that scanned a bunch of popular rock crawling obstacles and 3D prints them. The way he set it up they can lock into each other and you can build a course that's literally some of the toughest trails in the US, and it's completely portable. I know he did the waterfall, V notch and exit on Carnage Canyon in Colorado, the liberty trails in Penrose, 21 Road in Grand Junction, Rubicon, Fordyce, Sand Hollow etc. If you have any interest, send me a PM and I'll pass along his contact info.

I was debating doing that. Spent an evening nerding out on photogrammetry. Is this a business or did he do it for fun and is selling/sharing 3d print files?

He started a business and sold a few but got side tracked by another idea he's developing into a marketable product. I think a guy he was working with picked it up and is making and selling them now.

Here's his facebook page. Looks like it was called SmallCrawlRC

Well we just started screwing stuff together in my buddys barn. Going to bring some pallets home today to see what I can do with those.

He also started on this little box mountain that will be fun with a few more layers on it.

Finished up big truck prep last night and made a quick pallet. Seemed to work pretty well. Easy and good for the small ones, give it some incline its a fun for the bigger ones. Im going to make the bridge a little sketchier, but over all came out pretty good. Going to try to make a few of them. I also have enough old tow strap to make a 10' bridge that can be rolled up and thrown over two chair or something.

Crawled on them a bit today. Made one more, enough for an up-over-down. And a bridge to nowhere. Really happy with these, when your ready for a change just flip a pallet 180* and change the angle and it's a whole different course.

Got bored this weekend and changed it up. I have almost as much fun re making it every time than I do driving on it. Inspired by old slot car tracks, I wanted to try a over/under.

Crawl night thursday to put some rigs on it.

Wife got a SCX24 and it doesn't fit on the strap bridge, but it does fit between them! the minis now have they own exit that only they can fit into. Even grabbed some dirt from the sand barrel as all the dirt outside will have snow on it for a couple more months.

I think a 24 is next on my list now...

Replaced the rope bridge on the pallet for some 1:10 teeters.

And sprayed some rustoleum"textured paint" on on section of the wood, and holy heck does it increase grip. I went on heavy, and this was 1 whole can, but I think I can make the next can cover the other half here and the next pallet.

I thought I posted in here but apparently not. I don't have anything setup but there was one I saw that was genius.

Guy took one of the big cat wheels that was at a yardsale and set it up as a crawler course for his little 1/24 crawler. So as you drive it continues to rotate around. Doesn't take up a ton of space and if you turn it around you can make the course pretty different from the other direction. I guess some sort of inserts with magnets to swap out might be possible.
