Agreed
Thank you
Everything else on vin tag is accurate.

Any idea what the 28 after 1977 means?

Tag office doing tag office things, got to get sheriff out to do inspection, they were just out few months ago for my "homemade" trailer.

No **** the vin doesn't come up in your computers...the truck hasn't been registered in forever.

If I had a ***le, don't you think I'd have given it to you?

Yes the vin is only 11 digits, its pre 81 lady....

:snotty dmv voice: where’s the rest of the odometer reading? Value of truck? Nope, sorry sir our estimated taxable value is :typing furiously: $23,467 plus energy conservation fee, wheel tax, solar panel surcharge, friends for the spotted swamp moth fund donation….comes to $1,057.32. Mmmm kay?

Nice, truck doing truck ****. Got to feel good.

I dunno about firewood though. It's heavy, sometimes expensive, lots of work and just turns to ash. Sunshine is free, weightless.

Because I haven't made time for test//tuning I played with ghat gpt some. Told it about my ping at moderate throttle and my suspicion of the vac advance being the culprit. Asked for hp a torque estimates with my two different carbs, it asked if I wanted tuning advice. I said sure and gave it my current tune.

Pretty amazing how accurate its info is, down to what my idle mixture setting for optimal vacuum came out to be.

Found an advance can that's 12* crank timing total, Standard motor products vc230, I may try.
My original can I had that came with the generator was 8* total and worked great but diaphragm ruptured so I stole one from a parts dizzy thats 20*, I have it dialed back a good bit, havent played with it anymore.

Pffft analog human/AI interface….They make self aware tuning kits- called bolt on EFI 🤣🤣

Was scanning previous pages but didn’t see it. What carb spacer are you running ?

I want both my kids to know how what a carburetor is, and how to drive one along with basic tuning.. Yea thats my excuse.. I do kind of wish I'd tried a carb cheater sometimes..

1" 4 hole wood from summit.

I've been tossing around the idea of taking the die grinder to it to try and make a powercone type out of it...

Nah, but might try to make one with die grinder... Afraid Ill make it worse with it not being a cnc'd piece?? :homer:

I have to disagree with cyberdyne on the timing. I say this because I have the same motor and I bought a curved dizzy from the man himself, Scotty.
16 init, +20 centri inverse logarithm, +21 vac.
36 total by 3000
idle 37+
how you achieve this is another story.

Hope your enjoying it.
6R80 takes things to next level... as does nitrous. or both

you can easily modify the spacer. All you are trying to achieve is a leak between plenums. leave pri to sec alone.
nitrous plate does this for you for free. well sort of.

I hope to get my damn tag this afternoon where I can get it on the road legal....Full tank of fresh 91 non-ethanol be nice too.

Man a 6r80 would be bad ass.. Not in the cards for this right now though.

I appreciate the input. Any idea of your final compression ratio? Is your cam ground with 4* of advance? Scotty told me I'd be pushing the limits of 91 octane with my setup.

My base is at 14* now. I'm total at idle around 26-28. I'm all in at 34* at 2800ish rpm.
Mine appears unhappy with current vacuum advance can off a 351m (its like a 22* can?), its currently set 12-14ish* at idle in park.
Before I had full advance in around 2500ish with the 8* can and no ping.
With this new can, adjusted mechanical up to 2800ish, still pings with new can.
I have seen Scotty say over and over scenario like mine with truck, convertor etc 10-12* should suffice.
I don't get the moderate throttle ping with vacc disconnected. Wondering if its combo of olderish fuel, and or my block not being zero decked with these late -15cc efi pistons, 1.77 compression height....It was ok few months ago with the generator 8* advance can but the diaphragm ruptured. It was set mid way not sure what vacc. was but with 16 base i had 24* at idle.

Im going to keep tightening this current can and see what i does...
May end up try the vc230 can with 12* total and see If I can get it happy with that. If it stays unhappy I may end up ******ing cam timing a bit to reduce cyl pressure...

NOS would be fun, but I dont think my current 1310/1330 driveshafts and half ton axles would be happy. They already crying with 35's and 3.50 gears and the dumb stuff I do.

I thought about more of a sloped/smoothed notch in the spacer to just tie the two plenums together.

There you go with the NOSS again:smokin:

I have 612 cp pistons 12cc dish 1.772 CH. deck is near zero. static cr is 9.3:1. I run 87 octane. cam is straight up. D3 chambers decked 20 or so. I put the Jomar power cone back on.

I think the sniper 1 is 800 cfm, it doesn't use it all. Velocity doesn't matter with efi so 700 800 900 all make same power curve.

Drives great, finally took it for a ride more than down the half assed paved road i live on. No leaks or pools of fluid after so thats good.

Backed timing off 4 degrees, **** that cut out alot of power…
She only pings at WOT. Tells me bad gas for sure. Luckily the 460 will make quick work of it.

Speedo seems to be slow by about 8 mph

Ya, she's going to drink fuel like a drunken sailor. My first few tanks were 4 mpg, with EFI.

I'd call scotty and discuss timing for your particular application.

I had it dialed with the 800 this summer with Scotty's timing recipe. Ran like a raped ape.
Now I got a witches brew of old gas, so I changed parts like a dumbass.
I got a plan.

interested to hear what you end up going with.
Finally got some fresh non ethanol 90 octane in her. Put about 50 miles on truck this weekend, shes doing great.

Re-torqued intake and valve covers.

Re-worked my timing curve to come in a little later, and backed off curve to 16* of advance from the 22 it had, Made a bushing out of copper, I had lost the factory black plastic bushing.
Total is 32* right now in right at 3000 rpm, may try 34* shortly. Vacc advance is about 10-11* all in at 14.5" vacuum. Shes pulling about 18.5" of vacuum at 800 rpm idle in park.
Gobs of bottom end torque and plenty up top. Way too much hp for the half tons..

Swapped back to the 4780 800 Holley, Drives Way, Way better than the 1850 600. Fuel curve is looking pretty good also. Mounted the fuel pressure regulator to driver front head, set at 6.5 psi.
Bumped jets in the 4780 from 72/76 to 74/78. Have .013" wire in front IFR's, .31 long shooters front and rear, white pump cam up front in #1, orange in rear on #2. I can mat it at 2000 rpm with no bog. Does not load up like it used to when you let out of it with the the huge brown pump cam on the rear 50cc pump.(it came that way) Forgot to get a pic of the plugs, they look a little lean if anything. Parts for the manual choke should be here soon and Ill get that hooked up.

Have accumulated a pile of parts, time to get to work on other ****.
