What did you do for your ford today?

Put a starter in the 92 cause it seemed like the old one was going out. Welp, I don't think it was the problem. I fired it up and all was good. So, I left it for a day and then decided I wanted it out of my shop. Half a revolution and all went dead.

So, now I'm going through the wiring looking for a short or a fusible link that left the chat.

I hate working on **** sometimes.

Ha

Replacing a blower motor on excursion I bumped the wires off the solenoid, 10 minutes later I’m attempting to test the new blower motor, nothing has power :wtf?:

Ring terminal snapped. At least Ford left me an extra half inch of wire.

Finally got it to the exhaust shop, still need to find a mh in a jy with banks headers on it.

Of course the pinion is leaking, think Tran cooler lines are too.

Surprisingly easy since the front-rear bolt spacing was within 1/8 between the Ranger and Subaru. The Subaru seats were ~3" wider but I just spanned it with half height unistrut. The Subaru seats are a couple inches longer so they make the knee space look a lot shorter despite your butt position not actually moving much. The seat angle is different so I lost a lot of rear travel in the slider but this is good enough, whatever.

Look at all that bolstering. I'm so exited for the commute Monday.

90s-Early 2000's Subaru seats are good **** that people overlook hunting for Honda and Toyota seats. They wear like iron too. Other than the dog damage in the rear seat cushion my old Outback's 315,000 mile seats looked better than a lot of 5-10 year old rigs I've been in.

There's always steps back....

Ethanol sensor wasn't working, which was almost good, I got to see that the fail-safes for it work. I had it set to fail at 163% extra fuel and pull 10 degrees of timing, which it was! Took a hot minute to figure wtf was wrong with my timing though, lol.

Simple fix once I found it, when I put the locking bars back on this connector I guess I didn't notice that pin was pushed way in.

Also my 2 a-pillar gauges were about the worst part of making all this work again. I ****ing hate those things. What a pita to work on.

Gotta put that harness back together and clean around the truck, gunna get it out the garage here soon!

Oh yeah, pretty happy with how this firewall grommet turned out. Bolt spacing is a little tight but not a big issue right now. Next iteration I'll fix it, I want to integrate a bulkhead fitting for the map hose instead of just running the hose straight out

Also, this thing holds 25psi oil pressure hot idle, freaking amazing considering the remote oil filter and everything, plus being a 200k mile engine before I started beating it up

Trying something different, bed off (all the bolts came out drama free  ) started off by setting the tank on fire, wasn't much in there and it had a bad smell.

Really slow flame inside, then filled it with water and flushed around with the hose until it stopped coming out red. Shop vac to get the water out, then sealed the exits with a towel and my hand and pulled a vacuum on the tank. Wipe out inside with a rag for the last little bit. Seemed to have worked out pretty decent

Last time I tried that with the tank on a stand it launched about 4 ft, it’s pretty smart to set it on fire secured to the vehicle.

 I haven't had one jump yet, figured by lighting the small hole it would draw in through the big hole. Didn't seem to matter which hole started it though.

Wanted to like this thing, got a have an internal error, wouldn't play sound correct. Sending it back.

Put the dead original radio back in as a place holder, it's amazing what factory radios go for on eBay

That's very interesting. I've never seen one built like that.
Link?

I've returned the super cheap one above

Going to try this one from Walmart. Being something available in store should make it easier to return and such. It'll be neat if it works.

Was thinking about this radio for our '90. How did you like having maps that low on the dash, in a single-din display?

The display is just slightly larger than typical single din, nearly all of it fit through the trim ring, which is pretty good.

As for being that low, it seems fine. Like it better than dealing with the phone on the seat or on the dash.
Other option would be a rear view mirror that does the maps and camera, though being that high seems worse and more of an issue with glare and such

Found some bits and pieces at the JY.
Found out my jack/stands aren't tall enough to put in the springs I found. Has 5600# 05 coils and picked up a pair of 5200 '21 coils.
Ordered tie rods. Wanted to go local, but **** that. Same part numbers.

Rock auto with fastest shipping: $256 (before discount code) will be here Fridayish
Oreilly: $543

Edit: My favorite parts gal was working today... she matched RA total price. $250 out the door.

Somebody moved my 5.4 Super Duty yesterday and made the comment to me afterwards that he was surprised it had power. "the 5.4 F150 at work doesn't move like that!" thats with 3.73s and 37s, so I have that going for me:flipoff2:

THis overland crap.... I am that guy.
I had a wedge tent for about a year now, I liked it, it was small, but fine, it's a tent.
With a close to 2 week trip to baja coming up, I picked up a new to be Tuff stuff Alpha. It's freaking huge, but I am sure my wife will like it.

Ladder pads strategic for wife?

No air hammer or torch?
Air hammer is trash, wouldn't beat them out in its own. Wanted to try all the things before the torch on the first side, then the second side went quick and easy with the dig bar so the torch stayed away.

Kept from having to pull all the wiring and fuel/brake lines out of the way
