Rot Box 4Runner

And Then?
I had to put the phone down and hammer down on this project to get it ready for my bachelor party trip to SMORR. I will add pictures but sadly I missed a lot of the technical stuff as I was in GO Mode lol. If you guys have Instagram there's photos and videos of it on the trails. Biggusbuilt on the gram.

Here’s some photos of the tube front end tied into the 2x3 frame. Along with how I mounted the orbital valve.

This is what I ended up doing with the rear. I didn’t feel like cutting off my leaf perches from when this axle was under my XJ and starting over so I just squared up the perch’s to where they wanted to sit on the frame along with where I wanted the 42 in the wheel well and burned them in and had a buddy plate over everything while I worked on plumbing the full hydro.

Had a buddy with a fixture table build and machine my front driveshaft out of 2.5” .250 wall. At the axle side it’s a 1410 flange u joint to a factory Toyota flange at the t-case side. Worked great as I needed big joint to allow for more down travel at the axle side.

After the driveshafts were installed the final test drive was it moving 15’ out of my driveway and on to the trailer as it was 11:50PM and we were leaving at 3AM. There was many times that night I wanted to text all the guys and say “I’m giving up” but all of them showed up and we knocked out all the ten thousand little things that had to get finished.

If anyone has been to SMORR you know you have to hit “Rattler” one of the cooler obstacles at the park. Looks intimidating but you walk right up. This is when I found out the motor only revs up to 3 grand and then starts misfiring. To make a long story short of painful diagnosing and wrenching the crank sensor was the culprit because when I replaced the timing belt I found someone previously zip tied it because the bolt broke off inside the block. So I tried to do the right thing and drill it out and re-tap it. Accept the bit ended up walking past the bolt and drilled kinda sideways. The sensor sat flush and was only slightly off from where it originally sat. I ended up using a nasty sticky RTV like material to bond it to the block that ended up fixing the problem after slightly unloading a parts cannon at it while at the campground. So hopefully everyone can learn from my mistakes.

Some more photos of what the front end looked like after trimming it up. Along with an action shot from a video hence the Sasquatch quality.
