What did you do to your yota today?

Guessing you installed one of those 100 dolla ebay headers? I have one I've been considering on modifying to fit my 1st gen runner.

Taking apart a buddys diff to put new bearings in... found a factory solid spacer. I knew these existed, but this was my first time seeing one (on the left). Came from a pre 85 4.11 diff.

Started examining the literal rats nest of wiring on the 88 I just bought. I don’t think the vss, stop light switch or 4wd wires are making it run like **** but there is a solid black wire in the loom that I see nowhere for it to connect at ecu. I bought 3 used plugs with extra wire to redo what someone has already spliced.

Guess who forgot to pump up the brakes before sending it off the lift?

Goona have to slap the twin sticks in sooner than later. The bitch dont turn now. Cant wait for the snow to start falling..

Good thing you already had bumper installed. Did the rockers hit or did you clear it Dukes style?

Lift was down an I had an empty parkin lot to roll into. Just tried stomping a hole in the floorboard trying to get the stupid thing stopped

Ah ok I thought you went to just move it a bit to check something and then drove it off the lift raised lol

Nah, hopped in to go for a hot lap an wtf? :homer:

Done that with dirtbikes before but never a pickup:laughing:

Not “today”, but recent enough…
Went cruising around in the hills with the kids after work.

Thought that path to the right was a quick little connector up a switchback, ended up being 1/2-1 mile sketchy SXS sized trail that was hella steep, loose rock going up and (thankfully) steep off camber hardpacked dirt going down…it did connect back to the main dirt road though eventually

Had something hitting the fan after a big bounce on one of the climbs but couldn’t stop to figure out what it was lol. It stopped tapping so I thought it was a stick or something but everything seemed fine so cool beans.

Go to use ac the next day and nothing
:homer: Turns out the compressor clutch rattled off and was caught by the skid plate.

Dug into my “misc toyota bolts” stash and bolted that sucker back on

AC back in action
:smokin:

MaStEr MeChAnIc!!!1!
:lmao:

Ok ABS isnt happy now. Rolling up to a stop light, maybe 10mph it just ****s off.

Any ideas?

Did you space the tone ring correctly when you pressed it back together? I think you would have other issues if this wasn’t done correctly but who knows 🤷‍♂️

My third gen 4Runner will activate the ABS in reverse at full lock at <5 mph with my slightly larger tires.

No

I pulled the sensors. An then stuffed em back in the hole and bolted them down

Ya there’s no spacing distance in that regard. For some reason I thought you did the wheel bearings recently. My bad. 🤦‍♂️

Just before you hit the car stopped in front of you the ABS kicks in
Like the brakes dont work at all then they do?

Or its slowing down like normal then goes crazy modulating and pulsing the brakes?

My ABS doesn’t work but it still stops just fine (dry, icy or wet you gotta play the press and release game or downshift)

Brakes are fine then about 10mph it kicks in and maybe we are goona stop

Prior to swapping diffs out, its hardly ever worked.

That sounds really weird

I’m at a loss, I’d ditch it before it causes me an insurance claim

No. Had the cv's out when swapping the diff. But thats all.
All the way out? Or just out of the diff? Did you get them seated correctly in the spindle?

Still not sure what you mean by kicks in though. Starts ratcheting/pulsing? Pedal goes soft? Only when slowing from above 10mph or even when going under ?

1 cv was removed completely, one was just removed from the diff.

10mph ish. Rolling up to an intersection, just about stopped and the abs will kick in doing its ratcheting/pulsing thing for just a second and then I have brakes again. Makes a guy damn cautious of stopped traffic, I can tell you that  Doesn't happen every time, pretty random.

I'll tear into it this weekend and see wtf.

I’d ditch it

Thats been a thought as well

pull both sensors... check for junk and that the tone rings are lined up. I'm guessing you're getting a different signal side to side (no clue if that's possible - but it sounds good. :flipoff2:)

I gotta change a cv boot anyways. So I'll poke around and see wtf. I probly just did something dumb
