With my 2022 f250 turning into a fiasco and ultimately selling it when I was off work for 6 weeks I bought this ultra poopy f350 off a buddy.

2002 f350;
185k miles. Only real positive.
6 speed ZF6 trans.
Non running 7.3l.
5” ridiculous exhaust.
Stripped/destroyed interior.
Lots of body rust.
POWERSTROKE decals for extra horsetorques. So everyone knows you’re a tool.

I have a clean 06 cab. Ultimate goal is to cab swap it. Right now I just need something to drive.

Ultimately found the fuel bowl was nearly dry.

The fuel pump on the truck was off a 90s gas truck. Only had a 1/4” inlet instead of 5/16 in the diesel. Replaced but was not the issue. I assumed it was sucking air here. I was wrong.

The umbrella in the tank had been changed. Truck had about a 1/2 tank but wouldn’t pickup fuel.

Finally found the white plastic piece above the umbrella had slipped down off the tube and was sucking air there. It looked connected but was pulled out just above the oring inside.

Now it runs great.

It has no tuner, but blows a bunch of black smoke. It has an ATS cold side housing. So I’m assuming it has some aftermarket injectors. I plan to look into some tuning to clean this up.

Picked up an 06 6.0l parts truck for doors and interior.

May ultimately use the coil swap under the 02.

It came with a ***le and no keys.

Drilled the lock cylinder, then promptly found the key in a bin in the back seat.

Swapped in some batteries and discovered it had no base oil pressure.

Pulled the oil filter and it’s full of metal.

Guess my dreams of recouping some money selling a good 6.0l are out the window.

While your in there

While I’ve heard of hutch and harpoon I’ve never had trouble with the umbrella aside from when they disintegrate. I even looked them up again before throwing it back together stock. Oh well.

Keep it coming!

Instead of cab and suspension swapping the 7.3 truck, why not just 7.3 swap the 6.0 truck?
The 06 cab is in about the same shape as the 02.

So either way I’m cab swapping the 06 gas cab.

The best combo is probably the 06 6.0 frame/axles. 06 Gas cab, and the 7.3l zf6.

That’s alotta swapping. I’ll drive the rusty 02 cab around until I have my landcruiser running for a daily.

Kinda like the ferd version of my shipping crate project. :smokin:

Are you planning on painting the replacement cab/body? I bought a rot box dodge last year and am in the painting of southern replacement cab/body panels phase right now, which is like the biggest time/labor black hole ever.

I like those 7.3 super duties, was kinda looking to buy one last year before I got the shipping crate.

The replacement body will likely get painted. It’s not something I’m looking forward to.

It’s not much but it’s forward progress.

Stole the grille, lights, header panel and bumper off the 06. Got all the lights working.

Will polish these lights this week.

Removed and sold the obnoxious 5” exhaust to some dumass kid that enjoys being pegged.

Buttoned up the front. New pads and rotors.

Re-installed the front shock mounts. New Procomp shocks, they were on clearance for $18/each not long ago and happened to fit.

Removal of the rocker clearance lights turned into rocker removal, basically nothing left.

Swapped the 295 Nittos off the parts truck.

Fixed the door/fender gap on the driver’s side so the door no longer catches.

Getting ready to move onto the bed.

Dug out some walnut for the deck boards.

Work has kept me from the f350. Did manage to set the bed on the frame to double check measurements.

Truck adhd hit hard this week. Now I can take my time. Aka never finish it.
