What did you do for your ford today?

Well one of the rock dog avatar people said these lights were the ****. So we shall see. Certainly cant be worse than the ol sylvania's that were in there...I hope

Fixed Larry's sloppy console. Someone had knuckled down on one of the mount bolts enough to strip it. One insert later and the console doesn't hop around any more. Hope to get started on the hatch window this weekend, weather and all.

I put the fixed up shifter stick back on with a new boot. Gutting the isolator makes for a more positive feel. There's still a bit play in gear, somewhere under an inch, but far less than when the isolator was there and the shifter bolts were loose/stripped. From what I've seen online that's normal so I'll wait to put in new shift guides.

Speaking of Ford, has anyone had a torque converter will say knock? I’m chasing a knock and while I had the car on jack stands verifying the new steering hoses were good I crawled further under the car. The sound definitely seems like it’s coming from the bellhousing/converter.

Loose bolts, yes have seen that before. Hardware is the only thing that ever knocks inside the bellhosuing, for me anyway

Already dropped the trans once thinking maybe the flexplate might been cracked but it wasn’t. Put everything back together torqued with blue locktite

Since it appears the flexplate and TC bolts were addressed, is it possible the starter doesn't retract 100%? It's the only thing I can think of that moves around in that area.

1989 Lincoln mark vii lsc teves abs hydraulic booster delete.

Just in case somebody searches the internet for all that nonsense. 1994 mustang gt booster/master cylinder is not a drop in replacement:laughing:

Stock starring point

This was a bear to get removed, upside down fittings, lots of wiring no real space to go forward

There isn't much space there and the wiring and lines runnig across leave room to be desired

Lots of hammering on the shock tower, it eventually let the booster clear. Went ahead and just removed the 4th stud, only 1 was out of spec.

Tucks in there pretty tight

Master mounts up easy enough, rid of the ABS module, reusing the residual valve for the rears, curious if I need to add a combo or prop valve. Still need a 3 way t fitting to tie the fronts together

Will know more next weekend

Went out to look at the rear glass replacement and it began to rain.....So I boiled and then smacked the shift knob on. Tip for anyone replacing the factory knob: The shift indicator disc thingadera pops right out. Get the knob on first and then pop the disc in so you can get the lineup that way instead of guessing at it while yammering a 210 degree piece of plastic onto the shifter stick.

Overhead console was dead when I bought the truck so it's on the bench getting destroyed disassembled.

Edit: There you are, you little buggers.

A couple days shy of right at 4 weeks :smokin: rings apparently were the hold up.

Cam should be about 2 more weeks, going to try to follow up and see if that time frame is still accurate. No longer work in a machine shop, went ahead and bought a 4" mic that should be here end of this week. Going to be tough to get the Lincoln finished when I've got parts for the fun project handy

2003 5.4 needs a starter. Has anyone heard about using a coyote starter on the 5.4 2v? Reading one report it works. Any one else?

Without thinking too much, ford sells the same starter for 1996-2021 which spans the mod motor and coyote stuff. Seems to make sense, wasn't that half the point of going to the modular design?

Nice, I was looking at rockauto, and they only had a reman motorcraft listed. New ones available for 5.0 coyote though, with part numbers being different between the 2. Thank you.

I have a ~2016 5.0L F-150 starter on my 4.6L Expedition, works pretty good. If you need pics or PN's let me know. I have some other units on the shelf. Some mustang 5.0L and E-Chassis 6.8L units.

Pulled the injectors to get tested. Drained the tank tonight so I could clean the rust and sediment out. If it's not running right after I get it put back together and injectors replaced if needed ill do a compression test.

Background: it was running rough, smoking, slobbering and had a distinct tick. I started with injectors since while running, when cracked open one or two didn't change engine sound. I think it sounds like a low compression issue and with the soot around the injectors and one being loose I thought it start with them. Once i get it back together if still not right I'll get a compression test kit and see if we might have a head gasket issue
