A little back story on the build of this little jeep, its a 1969 cj5 we bought for 50 bucks, drivetrain is a Aluminum 5.3/sm465/dana 300, 35x12.5 tires, Wagoneer dana 44 up front and a Isuzu dana 44 in the rear. We used some rear Rancho 2.5 lift springs for a cj2a up front and BDS rear cj5 springs in back. It sits ridiculously low, almost to low. My brother and I are slowly building this jeep to hopefully make it onto UA one day
We finally got around to HI-Lining the factory front fenders after almost 2 years of having this jeep running. After a bunch of staring at it in the garage trying to figure out the best method for keep these fenders still looking close to the factory lines. We didn't want to just cut them flat a call it a day, its not a flat fender, its a funny fender.
First I cut out the factory inner fenders and decided that mounting them 3"s higher should be enough for now, plus I really wanted to keep the white stripes on the hood. Mounting the fenders to the tub was the easy part. Simply drilled a couple new holes 3 inches lower then factory.
This is the point where the front started getting funky, I am not a sheet metal guy ( i wish i was) so this took a couple Hard AF seltzers to figure out a proper solution
I manages to hand form up some pieces of 16 gauge to follow the grill lines to the front of the fender. I also chapped the bottom 2"ish off the front of the fender. I also chopped the hood I had for my CJ build just incase we didn't like the look. I didn't want to cut the patina matching hood
