What did you do for your ford today?

Well F*CK!

Fired up the 75 F100 today and there was a miss and noise. Pulled the DS valve cover and found cylinder 5 exhaust pushrod bent. The other pushrod was to confirm 9.621 length.

New pushrods on order from Summit. I’ll check it all out and cycle it by hand when I get the parts.

Possibly a stupid question but have you been running it on old E-10 gas? That **** doesn’t take long to turn to varnish. You run it one day and it runs fine. But when you turned it off that old fuel turned into a brown glue on the hot exhaust valve stems basically sticking them in place when they cooled down. The next time you start it it bends a push rod or 4 trying to open stuck valves, while 4 more were stuck open so it clatters while it warms up if it started at all. I’ve seen several FE’s and 300 sixes do exactly that. Ford 9N’s and continental flatheads.

Since it was sitting for 20 years I dropped and drained the tank. Installed a new pickup, fuel lines and filters. Fuel is part month old and fresh.

Rear main started leaking on the bronco. Pulling the transmission again.

Replaced it when I did the clutch... must have done a good job for it to last so long :homer:.

Any advice for putting a rear main on a 302 properly?

Are you sure you’re sure it’s the rear main and not the pan gasket right there? Or the cam plug above the crank?

The oil pan does not seem to be it, it is only wet on the back but the front is ok. Most of the oil is coming from in between the flywheel and the dust shield that goes in front of the transmission. There is a ton of oil inside the bell.

Cam plug also requires me to pull the transmission, so will check it when it is out.

Noticed some coolant pooling up in the back thos morning, rolled under the front and the water pump is leaking. Guess it is getting a new water pump also.

Finally got the fuel pump in, wife wanted spark plugs as well

They all had pretty even wear. Really gotta say, not a bad job at all on the 351 Windsor. Managed to cut both my arms still

Ran smoother after all that, still not good though. Pulled the oxygen sensor out and it came back to life. :homer: good enough for property work and getting to the gas station, which is all mom is using it for anyways.

Guess I'm going grab the welder and grinder next time and recobble the exhaust

Happy new year :grinpimp:

Used some time over our winter break to knock out a bunch of **** on my buddy's first project truck.
Biggest of which was the ubiquitous 80-96 TTB delete.

With both of us hammering that project out and all the time he spent refreshing the axle before install, we went from driving on ttb to driving on d60 in about 6 hours.

Nah, he bought this thing as basically a swap kit from '84 Bronco II . He gave us leafs, trackbar mount, and sway bar out of the '94 f350 he picked it from in the junkyard. I think the springs may be diesel springs though because it sits real high.

460 and a 4 barrel, as god intended:grinpimp: t18 trans. D70u rear end

Nice, they should still ride better than the ttb springs

I guess it rides like god intended too now :smokin:

Nice, 70u rear:usa:

I wish I had just sold you or him my old '84 that I originally pulled it for along with all the parts I had for it. It was in a lot better condition than his and basically the same truck other than being a diesel and I sold it to my uncle for $2,000 and he ended up flipping it in less than a year :mad3:

I would've taken that deal in a heartbeat, too

Well not today, but yesterday.

Threw in an xs power sb150 150 farad supercap dealio.

Got to try it my way home from work today and I'll say I'm pretty impressed. Voltage didn't budge at all, car seems to even idle better. There's new rattles I didn't have before and the bass definitely hits sharper.

Maybe a AGM/lithium and/or better power cabling would have had the same effect, but I wanted to try this. It also only weighs like 4 lbs.

I have 2ga copper cabling for power, running a fosgate 400.4 and a ds18 3k. The 3k definitely is not turned up to 3k. Probably using half of it.

awesome plates.

Ha. Same set I went with. They been a great, soft riding tire so far. I got em because I'm so old I remember Armstrong tru-tracs
That's awesome.
The rubber smells so good compared to other inexpensive tires .
The Cooper at's it had before cracked after 3 years , and we're pretty loud .
Can't believe how quiet these are considering the aggressive tread .

Following up on this: Replaced cylinder 5 pushrods, cycled the engine by hand and didn’t find any issues. Fired it up and shortly bent #3 exhaust pushrod. Poured in some sea foam since this engine was filthy inside and we suspect sludge plugging lifters. Ran it for 20 min and drained the oil. Fired it back up with cylinder 3 pushrods replaced and fresh oil and filter and she runs smooth.
