Interesting discussion, here’s a pic of the front tube,also a pic of the door bars on the Cherokee,I feel like it’s a good idea to have a little more protection there

take stock car, add bigger tires. it amazes me the amount of physical abuse the line mountain guys take because theyre decades behind offroad technologies.

It's cost prohibitive to have bling parts. Going fast in a forest full of trees on a trail barely wider than the vehicle you're driving is much harder on equipment than blasting through the desert where it's pretty wide open. You clip a 100 year old oak tree at race speed in the woods in an U4 car and the tree is going to win every single time. You also don't go nearly as fast in the woods so you wouldn't need super bling **** and decades old tech still gets the job done at an affordable price.

Ha yes true we took a beating at times but I’m still missing it this year! I haven’t bought any shocks yet,single shocks, probably end up getting radflo 14” front 16” rear, It’s tempting to try some fox internal bypass coilovers though.

Yes trailing arm rear it already has shock mounts on the chassis in the rear they are set up for two if I decided to later on
 
I've always liked the LII chassis. I had grand plans of building one up when I lived in New England and collected the parts to do so but never got to the buying the chassis or crate engine part because of a job related move to Texas. I sold a bunch of it off before I left and most of the rest down here. Pretty sure I still have the 59" fiberglass hood grill and cowl in my container though.

I'm happy with my fox ibp's.
 
A little bit of progress. Front truss welded on,engine/trans tacked in place it’s on a bit of an angle 7.5 degree hopefully not too much.I’m afraid of raising the t case any further on account of helmet clearance. I could take the front a little lower but the pan would be low. Also trying to decide where to tack the link mounts on and how far forward to put the front axle. Not sure how far down below the belly to put the lower link brackets. Hopefully I can make a lot more progress this weekend
