Bought a new metal blade steel chop saw

No, but it will cast razor sharp shards of metal in a 6' radius of the saw. Not good for the dogs.

Yep,
In my experience, dog lays in swarf or tracks in it. Dog comes in house and lays on rug or couch. Wife / GF walks on rug barefoot and ends up with swarf in feet or sits on couch and gets swarf in ass.

I get to remove pieces of swarf while getting barked at by both dog and woman. :homer:

Solution lately... zero dog and zero woman in shop.

So is hot metal shards going all over when you cut? Can you run it bare handed?
The metal cutoff tiny pieces are not harmful unless you ground your hand into them for whatever reason. I’ve used two other style steel blade chop saws before this one and never once had any issue whatsoever with that. Now I don’t own any dogs but if I did, it wouldn’t be around tools like this when I’m working. Common sense goes a long ways.

I used the saw again today to cut 3” square tubing 1/4” wall to use under my Bridgeport mill. Installing HD rubber leveling feet under it and raising the mill 5” overall. I’m 6’2” and don’t like bending over to use a machine made for someone 5’10” tall.

Anyway, I love the material clamps on this thing to hold the work. The Bosch stand is awesome also as it’s so easy to move and setup and take down. I use the saw outside my shop as I just blow the metal cutoff tiny pieces off and into my gravel driveway.

I went through the same thing with the DeWalt and the Evolution saw and bought this vevor portaband
Amazon.com
How do you like that bad boy? I have been wanting a portaband but can't justify an m18s cost since it will only get used in the shop. I really want a horizontal band saw....but thats not in the cards. This thing looks like it might got everything in looking for.

It works great. I mainly use if for cutting threaded rod

I have the Evo MCF and it's fine for my purposes. I used it to whack some W-beams down to usable sized chunks and made L and T brackets for a post and beam pavilion. A plasma might have been faster, but I wasn't and still am not setup for one of those.

I had to improvise my saw stand material extension support setup. The stand is made for wood and not the weight of heavy square wall tubing.

I had to nip off a couple inches on these deer stand foundation beams to cut to exact length. So the rest of the 8’ plus 3x3-3/16” wall tubing hung out onto the material extension support arm.

The arm isn’t strong enough to hold the tubing flat on top of the saw base. So I had to improvise a support system under that to hold the it there. No big deal really

The one thing I don’t understand is that the top of the left support arm isn’t quite wide enough. Now, I’m not sure if this saw base fence is further back than a wood chop saw fence either. I had no trouble setting this saw on this stand tho but the saw is big on it. I’ll end up modifying that and I’ll fabricate an adjustable support leg for it as well that’s easy to R&R.
