Battery Choice?

So I am getting ready to use my 2019 Husky FX450. It has a lithium battery that is older. I honestly think it needs to be ridden and it will charge up fine.

On the off chance I can't get it going, is there a commonly available battery for that bike that lasts and is decently priced?

I have some $40 battery in my other bike and it works great. Sat since fall, cranks over strong.

Who makes a decent battery that will last and hold a charge for awhile? Preferably something I can buy off of Amazon due to my location.

I have one of these in the Tracer 900, its 3 or so years old and holds charge like a champ. It hasn't aged out much if any and spends a bit of time sitting since I have two other rideable street bikes:


I have one of these in the SV 650, same age and is also doing well, makes me want to try more lithium.

It's about 4.625 x2.5 or so and no idea on height. It is real busy in there by the battery and hard to get to without more work than I have time for right this second.

I think those are too big.

The weird thing about it is that my regular off road bike has some trashy $30 Amazon battery and starts right up. The newer bike (17 years newer and EFI) is awfully sensitive to sitting etc.

My YZ came with a bougie Antigravity battery. It has sat untouched for like 6 months since the last time I rode (and hurt myself again). I just hit the button and it fired up like I had ridden it this morning.


I have had poor luck with Shorai and longevity.

Thank you. I think my batteries just smoked. Bought the bike used so no idea on age or use. I’m gonna go look up the make of the battery here in a bit. I just find it odd that a caveman simple bike with a $35 Amazon battery fires over like I parked it an hour ago and if this thing sits for more than a couple of days or you leave a light on for 20 minutes or something like that it doesn’t wanna go. I’m sounding like a real idiot here I can see that. Typical car dead battery symptoms just in a bike👍😜

Bought an AMPEXLL lithium for $65. Another 60 CCA over the other battery. We will see when it gets here at the end of the week. It was rated pretty highly.

I just want the bike to start regularly etc. We will see. Thanks for the thoughts.

I had a battery tender battery for 4 years and it died , running a Tusk now, it seems really good.

That’s good to know. I may try one of those.

My 19 has the stock husky battery and will fire right up after sitting all winter. In the garage, but no tender.
My kids 19 came with a tusk battery, his is dead every week. Won't even try to turn over with the button. 2 kicks and it'll fire, takes about 15 minutes of riding and then it'll be good all weekend.

I think the lithium batteries are pretty much luck. I've seen cheap ones last, expensive ones die. Warranty is everything.

I think your description of the husky battery is spot on. If I ride it every few days and it’s in the warm time of the year, etc. it’s fine no real issues but it seems like any reason good or not or if it sits for more than five or six days or if the planet don’t align, I have to put a charger on it. As I said before, I have some AGM or maybe it’s even a regular battery on an older bike. It sat since November. I just hit the button just to see the other day and it cranked over like it was ready to start.

I’ve installed my new lithium battery. I’m gonna get it out for a ride today and then I’m gonna be gone for a bit. We’ll see how it does.

could very well be ****ty battery as we all know they are built to die.

could also be a small drain? stator failing? loose connections/ground?

I have let it sit for 4-5 days at a time and it starts right up. Seems to be better and I am going to get a ride in here soon.

That said, every aftermarket battery I have bought has sucked ass. Both my '23 ktm and the '23 sherco are on the original battery, never having been on a charger. And both only have about 35 hours on them, and will fire up asap...

I run regular lead acids in everything, it pisses me off less when they're dead in a year or two because of the price. Most stuff gets Tusk or Parts Unlimited house brand cheapos.

I have had it in there for about a month. Never rode till today. It has not had any weird starting stuff. Just cranks over fine. I think the other battery was just old and weak.

I will update but I got about an hour ride today which was nice, a little cold as it is in the 40's but still fun.
