My '12 CTD 2500 Ram needs new front unit bearings, Rock Auto has Timken for $175 and SKF for $229. I think I read somewhere that SKF is a better bearing, is it $50 better? If it's worth it I don't mind spending the money but, $100 would get a few gum jobs!

I refuse to buy timken from crockauto. I had 3 of them fail with very few miles. I swear the are rejects or flat out counterfeit.

Get a free spin kit if you plan on keeping the truck a long time
2k will buy 4 sets of bearings, I've had the truck since new and got 160,xxx out of the 1st set. I hear the free spin kits do improve the steering which would be worth the price of admission, being the Dodge that it is.

Plus a few MPG bump. If you plan on keeping it for another 100k miles, consider the savings.

Rockauto gets everybody’s rejects and seconds.

For awhile I just went on amazon/ebay and sorted by price lowest-highest. Turns out the $40 no-name bearings last for about 6 months. Don't do that. That's all I can add. x2 for checking on factory bearing price.
