Got a text from my cousin that his guys had messed up a line/tube on his 2005 Cat 287B and Cat is saying it is on 'World Wide' backorder. Is that worse than double secret probation ha, but they have an eta of 52 days. Seems odd to me. Says it is part of the parking brake on the final drive. Any one know any aftermarket sites that might have something available, I know CAT is not aftermarket friendly but I have to figure someone has found a solution on a 20 year old machine.

Any one have any direction to where to look? All the used parts places I have saved from my JD backhoe show limited CAT stuff- he is going to call around some more tomorrow.

Take the pieces down to your local tube and hoses place?
That is in process, having a tube bent up to the same shape, prob is no one seems to have the ends and the middle section would need to be added in, so might be a make it work situation with some welding action but before go to there thought I would see if there was any aftermarket options.

Looks like an o ring face seal fitting. Either fab a new one or adapter to a JIC and rock on.

Maybe a good hydraulics shop can build you one.
Not sure what the other side looks like, that might be a good option though- I was told it is tight in there.
Looks like a good place for a 2 piece hose with a T in the middle to me.
See above- told no room for that, was my go to solution
Orfs should jive with that. I bet it can be pieced together at a hose shop. I'd jump right to weld option first though.
Welding seems to be the go to option to get it back up and going (and off site) but not sure anyone local is willing to do that. And not sure I want to be that guy either ha ha

If it's anything like ours, burn it.

Damn thing has been to 6 shops and nobody could ever figure out the random won't turn left. Everyone says they can calibrate it and that it's a known issue.
Then they give it back without a bill and tell us "sorry, it's ****ed".

Ironic part is that this is the 'go to' machine because everyone hates the newer ones because they suck ha. Has a '22 sitting in the yard because it is always acting up, the guys like the 05 the best ha

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Only 2 months out? I remember getting quotes from generator/panel guys of 52 weeks to 30 months.

If he has enough money, buy a parts machine and sell the other side on eBay for the cost of the machine. :flipoff2:

Maybe have him call CAT dealers in different regions? Could have one sitting on a shelf somewhere. Milton CAT is the big name in New England.

i want to buy a new holland under 75 horses. word is they are the hotness. the big Cats with the DEF, id never own one out of warranty.

Sorry your dealer blows, dumb asses are a known issue though so that is correct.
