Any suggestions? Preferably ones that do not hoover up all kinds of data from my phone.

My problem with youtube premium is that I see Google as worse than the devil. I'd rather eat the money than give it to them. But they are profiting from the ads too...

paying for youtube is stupid as ****

edit: paying for youtube just to remove ads is stupid as ****

This is where I stand. The only reason paying for youtube seems like a good idea is that they intentionally made it so miserable to use without paying for it. You could see them slowly rolling out changes that made it worse and worse. First it was more ads in the middle of vids. Then it was an immediate ad as soon as you play a vid. Then it's an immediate ad at the end of a vid. "Let's make it worse so people will want to pay to get it back the way it was."

Don't use the youtube app. Use it on your browser with an adblock add on. Just bookmark youtube to your home screen and it's right there for convenience like an app.

That doesn't work great on things like FireTV and other android-based streaming devices.

I use DDG on my phone, but YT have finally caught up with adblock tech.

I have three ad block programs running in chrome on my desktop and one or maybe some combination of them still manage to fully block ads YT, but haven't found anything that works on android.

I've looked in to network level blocking, but apparently YT has started embedding the ads right in to the vids so most of those methods don't work any more.

When I bought my super-duper desktop computer 8.5 years ago I installed 4 or 5 adblock extensions.
Worked excellent/completely sterilized YT of all ads for about 6 years.

Now; YT stops my viewing after about 3 vids and asks/demands me to disable adblockers.

You wanna get pissed? Realize you're paying for the premium subscriptions so you don't have ads and then have ads. ****ing Amazon prime pisses me right off.

No ****?!

Am.azon Prime has ads?

Yeah, started last year. The started playing ads on Prime Video stuff and you can pay extra (on top of your prime membership price) to remove them.

"See, we didn't raise prices.".

No, you just made the same product ****tier and now charge more for what I previously got.

My phone is my:
1) phone
2) radio
3) TV
4) alarm clock
5) map guide
6) compass
7) magnified glass
8) camera
9) internet/computer
Apparently you don't realize that the vast majority of streaming devices also run Android.
Oh I know it, I just don't understand it. Do you sit at home when you're watching Youtube videos or do you do it while you're at work or what? I cannot imagine how ******ed you have to be to consume the internet through a 4" screen.

I'm a disabled retired hermit.

Here's a typical set up:
1) Headphones on
2) Listening to music, baseball game, or podcast
3) Working on Bronco or doing **** around the house.

That's not so bad. I know there are people who watch movies and all kinds of things on their phones, though. A podcast is more about the audio, and all that other stuff makes sense.

I use an Amazon FireTV on my home TV and about 80% of what I watch is on YouTube. As far as I've found, there's no good way to block ads on it or any of the other android based streaming devices.
